Tourist Spots in India

I have been to India particularly Kolkata, India. It was a year ago and I was with my mother for 2 weeks, but I really never got the chance to see the tourist spots, because we just came there to take care of my Dad who had a stroke while doing business there. We actually came to help him recover, enough to ride a plane back home.
Well, I am planning to go back to India (maybe in mumbai or some other nice city there), and this time for a Vacation. What tourist spots can you recommend to me and why?

I would like to fly into Delhi and take a train to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. I have heard that Goa is a beautiful beach destination but to me Kerala sounds even better. It has palm fringed beaches and interesting looking back waters. I am keen to travel around India by train. I am very sorry to hear that your dad suffered a stroke.

I love beaches! I'd probably add that up my itinerary! Thanks, my dad is ok now! he can walk but needs a little bit more therapy to regain the proper gait. :-)
