My cousin told me to take pineapple juice during pregnancy. He told me that it is good for me and for the baby. But I googled and read some articles that pineapple juice causes contractions. What are the verdict of pineapple juice during pregnancy? Any idea? Cheers! :D

I do not think pineaple juice can cause contraction unless it is another special juice that I am not aware of. What is in pineaple juice that causes contractions. As far as I know, contractions are caused by oxytocin hormone but not juices.

According to one site I've read, pineapple contains Bromelain which can also soften the cervix. But it is said that it takes large quantities to have any effect which can also result in diarrhea. Anyway, I think it's okay as long as I'm taking it in moderation. Thanks for the response Mashnn! ;)

Ok. It is only on commercially prepared pineaple juices or also on fresh juices that you make at home?

Friend I don't think that drinking pineapple juice if your pregnant is prohibited. I believe that Pineapple is rich in Vitamin C, manganese, dietary fiber, Vitamin B6,B1 and folate. As you can see, I don't think it will harm the baby inside you. Just drink moderately and drink if you not hungry to avoid the stomach acid to trigger.

Alright evitz711! Thanks for your response. I'm drinking pineapple juice 1 glass a day, and it's really a big thing and help me with my constipation. :D
