Could you give some tips for buying a new washing machine?

My boyfriend and I have decided to buy a new washing machine recently. But we have different opinions about it. On the one hand, we're different brand pursuers. I belive in our local brand Haier while he insists that we buy it with more famous brand. On the other hand, I enjoy cylinder washer while he likes upright type washing machine. Oh, my gosh.
Dear mylot users and friends, could you please give us some tips for that?

dont but the cheap ones, they will be malfuntioning in few months or years. also check reviews of customers on how satisfied they were to the products. usually the expensive ones are more durable. Dont but appliance from China, they were disposable. that is based on my experience. Cheap doesnt mean its worth it. sometimes you will save money from expensive ones.

Thank you for your guidance. To tell the truth, I do want to buy it with famous brand and it sounds more reliable. But actually we have our budget on that, too. So I have to consider more economic one even though my boyfriend and I still haven't reached an agreement about which to buy. Somehow, I wonder what if my boyfriend and I write down all the brand we want to draw lots for making the final decision. What do you think?

that would be good idea, anyway you should try go to amazon.com or wallmart.com (you are not going to shop there, you will just read customer reviews) I think some of the major products are on those websites, read the customer reviews.

That sounds great. I'll try to visit those webside and see how their cusomter comment about it before I make a fininal decision. Oh, how difficult it is to get a economic one.
