I think during the 90's such anime exist but now most anime have a highschool student as a main character. I have nothing against teens but the last 19 new anime I just watched have a highschool student as protagonist. I just miss the times when we have anime titles were the protagonist is a cop, soldier (who is on his twenties),Investigator, a warrior over 20, Flower shop employee...etc... ANime use to offer such diversity but now its spammed with teen characters. and I am not asking for Hentai titles.

I'm having trouble finding good new manga/anime to follow too. So far the only good manga I've come across that doesn't have a highschooler is Claymore and One Piece. But I don't think they can be counted on as new.

Apparently the same is happening to all cartoons though. Some people are even saying that Walt Disney would not be pleased if he saw the cartoons on Disney Channel today. I suppose it is difficult to come up with good, original stories to entertain children so the easiest thing to do would be to base them on a story they have watched before. Although I don't understand why so many manga and anime these days have high schoolers in them. Unless they're trying to target mostly the teenage age group.

Where I am, there is an equal number of anime and cartoons airing. I don't think anime is dying. There are still a lot of people still following anime even if it is not as good as it was previously. It's just attracting a different group of people now.

Now that you asking about this, i almost never watch any anime with adult protagonist. I never realize about that until now. Maybe because highschool student or teen have more atractive appearance than adult so they usually use that as the main character. The only anime with adult character that i've been watch is Blade of the Phantom Master but it is a movie. Its an mystery, fantasy, and action genre and have quite good story.

during the 90's, 80's and 70's adult protagonist were common. Though I prefer teen protagonist over kid protagonist though. I just want to see some adult characters again,.

Wow, you really do have a point. I didn't even notice until I read this discussion. The only anime that I can think of off the top of my head is Tiger and Bunny. Everything else has teens or younger kids as the main lead. I don't know if you'll like that one though. I haven't seen it but I've heard from a few people that it's a good show. I've been meaning to check it out though. It's about superheroes but with a twist from those old fashioned superhero shows we're used to as a kid.

One piece is now a classic, Well Luffy started as a kid but he is an adult now until the show ended. But yeah Mangakas are currently spamming us with Highschoolers. I know Japanese school uniform is cool but its becoming generic and overdone. I want to see some adult protagonist. who is not in highschool or college. or at least they should make the kid characters grow up. Its a cool thing they let Naruto grow up.

I think most main characters are highschoolers because high schoolers watch anime. The older you get, the more serious you're likely to become which decreases the likelihood of watching animated shows.

I know that but i am asking for titles dont, not really asking why most anime have teen protagonist. You know at certain point anime market is diverse.
