Third consecutive close match in cricket tri series in Australia, second for India this time against Sri Lanka and an historic tie. Dhoni was again the player responsible to earn India a creditable tie by scoring three runs of the last ball of the match. It was comparatively an easy match for India up to 40th over of the match requiring just 59 runs of last ten balls but run out of Gambhir in 41st over changed the match scenario dramatically and India started loosing ground slowly but with Dhoni at the crease there was still hope. The run rate climbed steadily and looked beyond India's reach even with Dhoni at the crease a six and a four in 45th over eased the pressure on India a bit but got worst in next 3 overs. A six of a no ball by Irphan Pathan in 49th over got the match within the reach of India. India ultimately required just nine runs of the last Malinga over with Dhoni to face the over, India looked set to win the tense battle but ultimately Dhoni managed a tie. A great match of cricket.

Thank you himzey. It was nice to see Irfan back. That six changed the complexion of the game. At one stage even with Dhoni at the crease Sri Lankans were poised to win the match.

yeah Dhoni has been the man for india throughout the series. He has always kept the score board ticking. He also played an important role as captain.Mahela in the other side restricted the Indians by maintaining a strict field. So since both captains are world class captains it ended in a tie.

Thank you mahiraizwer. Dhoni is really playing well in O.D.I. series after failing bitterly in test series. Mahela Jayawardena is really to be appreciated for his captainship. He chocked Indians of runs through accurate field placements. That is the reason an easy match got so difficult at the end for Indians.

Yes it was a thrilling match...which was good for the audience and Odi cricket, but for indians i guesss...since I personally feel that Dhoni should have atleast rotated the strike which would have enabled them to win the match more comfortably rather than tie-ing the match...SL must be a happy bunch that they were able to tie out the match...Also credit to Dhoni to atleast tie out the match from a loosing position as he himself bought Indians into such a situation... nothing to take away from the match...it was a good one...kudos to ODI cricket..
