Maybe you were sleeping in a wrong position or in an uncomfortable position. Another possibility is that maybe u have been in one same position for a long time. Some people who sit to long in front of their desk in the office usually feel this pain when they're wake up, because basically the function of the neck is to hold your back and head at one position that when it takes too much time to hold in one same position, the pain is accumulated and in the end felt when u're waking up in the morning. But this pain will get away soon after u start to do some warming up exercise after u wake up. If you wake up in the morning, u can feel the fresh morning air while having the warming up exercise, it's perfect :)

Hi anjirojr, Yes sometimes I feel some stiffness in my neck when I wake up from my sleep. I think you probably have been sleeping in an awkward position thus resulting in some strain in your neck area. I think massaging your neck will improve the condition. Perhaps you should check and alter your sleeping position or condition. Anyway if it persists you should see a doctor or a physiotherapist for some advice.
