Playstation Gamer League allows you to earn psn cards, amazon cards, and money for playing in game tournaments.
The good part is that there are no fees to you at all.

i used to do something similar to this back in the day. but instead of being playstation, it was counterstrike. would cost me £5 to join the match and the winning team took the loot, its a pretty good concept in my eyes, gives you a chance to earn cash doing the stuff you love

Yeah the good thing though, unlike the counterstrike thing, it doesn't cost you any money at all.
All you do is download a ticket to reserve your spot and that's it.
