Magnesium and Migraines

I have been told that I have low Magnesium levels and that chances are that this is causing my Migraines or at the very least making them worse or more frequent. Has anybody else got experience of Magnesium related Migraines? I have since purchased a Magensium and Calcium supplement (as I am also low in Calcium), but would also like to increase it through diet as I'd rather not have to take tablets for this. What sort of foods contain good levels of Magnesium in order to boost the levels in my system thus possibly preventing Migraines?

Well...I might think that a magnesium supplement might get you more of what you need. My friend had low low levels of magnesium and she had what they thought were panic attacks. They treated her for depression and anxiety forever before she went to the emergency room one night having an attack and they found her levels to be almost bottomed out. She never had to take another anti-depressant or anxiety pill again after taking the magnesium supplements. I think there should be a lot more testing for deficiencies than there are.

My sister actually suffers from depression as well as some other health problems. From my research into it, Magnesium is also often found deficient in those with depression. If your friend is anything to go by, perhaps it's causing the issue with her too. I've spoken to our mum, who's going to pay the €40 to send a hair sample off to the guy I went to for her. Hopefully he can help her. Thanks for your post Jen.

Thanks for the best response! She is doing a 100% better now that she has got those levels stabilized. There are just so many things that can cause stuff and they can be alot more simple than we imagine. Good luck for your sister!

Thanks, I really hope things work out for my sister, she's such an amazing person and depression has destroyed her spirit.
