Does The Twelve Step Program Work?

i never did rehab and i have 12 years sober. i have yet to have a slip up. i think this is because i avoided 12 step programs and rehab. i tried to get into that sometime after my sobriety (about one year after), just to be doing it. all it may me do was remember all the reasons why i enjoyed doing pills. lol. there is probably only 1 or 2 things i could agree to, the other steps are just malarky. i think it drives people to want to do drugs. i drives people to relapse. i don't know could just be me. what do you think.

I honestly think that different things work for different people. Perhaps the 12 steps weren't how you needed to heal yourself, but some people need that structure and support to get through such turmoil. Fair play to you for reaching 12 years sober without a single slip up, but don't judge the 12 steps for everyone ;)

i totally agree. i guess it's just that i know someone who is combating addiction right now. in and out of rehabs and she is just not there yet. i know this is her process, it's just hard to watch someone you care about go through these things. especially since you know what it entails first hand...that beast. i wish there was a silver bullet, but there isn't. i know better.thanks for the response.
