Uhm, sorry if I say that but those questions seem to be "dropped" here just to write a forced-topic (that's the first thing I thought when I read this, so don't take it bad, I'm not mean... I think). Anyway, You can find tons of definitions about -digital- in the internet and tons of other answers. But I'll explain it my own way just to stay in topic, Digital is something which exists but you can't touch. It's like a feeling, You can feel love but you can't touch it, except the digital can't be "felt" but seen. Some examples may be: Digital paintings, they're called so because normally paintings can be touched, but considering you made them with a program, you can't touch them, you can only see them and definite them "digital paintings". It's true some technologies allow you to "Touch" but you actually touch a material which is not digital, and the action gets converted in eletrical signals which affect the digital. That's pretty much what I consider "digital" and if I misundestood and you actually meant WHY it's called so and it's not called potatoe instead, there's an answer on the internet but without searching for it, I can guess "Digital" means "digits" and probably refers to the binary digits (0,1) which is what the computer reads and writes into. And uhm, the last question is why at the beginning I thought it was a forced question/topic, You already know where they're used but just for the sake of the topic... They're used In our homes, jobs (most of them), industries, schools, Police stations, EVERYWHERE!

Hi Darkhoppa, I think anyone drop a discussion here, means he/she wants to discuss. You are welcom to disscuss this topic. You know, it would be better to mix the hard questions with the easy ones, so everyone will enjoy. And then, that will lead to some unexpected ideas.

I'm not sure 'digital' age is right term, since a lot of things today are based on analog devices and that's not going to change in the near future. I think it's better to be called like the one before me stated, Information era.

Hi Magester1! It seems that finally I got somone intrested. Yes, nowadays there are full of information. But the question that comes to minds, "Do people really get benifits from these information". Young age are grow with technology. Every where you go, you see a lot of young people should hold electromic machine in their hands. At least something to play with. It is really "Digital Age". It would be better if people use the technology effectively. For example, it is so nice when we see teachers are useing the computers at schools to teach students. Teachers in this way are useing projectors to give presentaions.
