Do you Download Illegaly?

The cyber world has increased in size an overwhelming amount in the last couple of years. Much to the annoyance of various companies and associations, so has piracy. It's now even easier to download anything from movies to songs in just a few minutes. I personally have only ever downloaded an album from a file sharing site, I didn't like the quality of the album and I deleted it and never went back. My friends all talk about what they've downloaded and how they've done it, but I think buying things and supporting the creators is the best way to go about things on the internet. What do you think about piracy and do you take part in it? I'm just curious.

I download a lot of things online, but when i like of anything (it happens always, lol) i buy it. The only thing i never download is books and magazines, i think never can substitute a book or magazine, i like to have it. The thing i download most is Movies, but i always buy the ones i like. One thing i download too is music, but 99% os my songs a legal, if i don't buy the CD e buy it online.

I hear you on the music, downloading songs is so easy and the prices of some songs just isn't worth it. It's like this with piracy I think: If you like the thing you download, buy it. If you support the artist, buy their songs.

I admit to doing some illegal things online. I stream movies online through those video uploading sites occasionally. I sometimes download pdfs for textbooks online. I don't download music though. I buy all my music...if I like the artist, I wanna support it. Another illegal thing I do is use emulators. It violates copyrights but it gives me a chance to play classics on my PC. I'm kinda two-sided on the illegal thing.

Downloading pirated stuff or even paying for them is just like condoning this illegal activity. I understand that people do not want to spend too much on things but purchasing fake or pirated products isn't the alternative. The more we patronize this, the more difficult it would really be to stop piracy. It's ironic that we abhor criminal activities, we cry out for justice when someone is wronged, yet we allow piracy to continue by either illegally downloading copyrighted materials or downloading pirated ones. I never once took part in this. I mean, if I can't afford to pay for the original item, then that's life. I just have to save money for it. I wouldn't steal it.

I try not to download illegally, I try to stick to legal sources, but sometimes I download if I don't have time to get it from the library.

I'm way too scared of getting caught downloading to really download anything. Sometimes, I grab a song from Youtube or another video site if it's not available for paid download on iTunes or Amazon, but that's about the maximum. I don't belong to the people who say that downloading destroys everything, but piracy is punished by law and that alone keeps me from actively participating in it. A classmate of mine got caught downloading when I still was in school and that scared me to hell.
