Exams are overrated

Do you ever feel really stressed before an exam? Think about the test and can't sleep? Well you're not alone I'm like that too. Are exams overrated? My opinion is that they are in a way. But let's face the facts if you don't well in a major exam it will effect you in your chances of getting employed. For example, the HSC in NSW, Australia your score determines waht university you are able to enter. All dreams and hopes ride on that test. If you don't do well then it's just bad luck. I know some of us are good at studying but when it comes down to the test we panic and don't do as well as we hoped. Self-doubt it is one of my biggest problems I shade in answer is then I think is this the correct answer? So I think I think it's answer B and change it so then I learnt not to change it unless I'm 100% sure but when I did that I thought I should change it but then I didn't and got the answer wrong. In Asia there's a whole lot of pressure it goes to the next level. Long school hours on top of going to after school school (cram school) or tutoring to get ahead and have the extra edge over classmates and lack of sleep. I think it's due to the population as there are more people competing and wanting to do their very best.

I have always thought exams are over-rated, they are only for people who are good at remembering facts and figures from books and not everyone is good at that, and from when I was at scholl most of the facts students are forced to remember are a lot of useless information for the future...

Can't sleep because exam? I don't sleep because I need to study at the whole night, especially at a day before exam. Anyway, perhaps you are right. But I think it's a life challenge for younger man. I will just consider it as a start before facing the real world problem, I think..

While I was in school, I would come through such horrid experiences too when the final examinations come. I would definitely cram all my available time to study and remember what is important for the final. That just temporary solution I think. If you are truly know it by heart, it shouldn't be a panic button when it comes to exam. We should know by heart the answers and know it all.

Good thing my field is in art or creativity that we don't need an examination at all. We just need an execution of the project to prove that we are worth to be employed to their company other than the degree that we are having.

In a sense, exams are really overrated. Some students don't cope well in preparing and sitting for exams. Many people place so much emphasis on exams and exam results because they almost corer a big portion of academic grade. Pressure, anxiety and fear of failing are often the most common emotions when dealing with this kind of situation. It is true that many people place too much emphasis on education and exams. In addition, exams are more on the memorizing and retrieval of information like the standardized tests. But some type of exams do focus on the skill and action rather than pure knowledge. Different cultures have different perspective in terms of education. Some see it as the only tool to get ahead and results in being competitive (or even over competitive) in the academic side of things. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes, it may just be a show of aptitude in learning. It is true that some of the knowledge taught in schools aren't always present hen own is already employed but knowledge and facts are always helpful in the strangest of times. Exams, for some, are a nuisance while others it is just a stepping stone. Depending on how you view or treat it may affect your attitude in taking it. But nevertheless, it is part of the academic practice and the only way to get pass it is to take it.

I'm sure glad that I have graduated already and don't have to think about exams anymore. I used to stress over them a lot and could never get a good night's sleep before the exam because of stress and anxiety. I can't really say if they are over-rated or not but if we study well for them then we don't we have to worry even though we might be anxious about it. I used to be somewhat during exam perios as it indicated that the semester is coming to an end...

It is ok that you might feel stressed about exams and you can't sleep. I was pretty stressed before i had my exams in my elementary school. Exams are kind of overrated , but i think it's for good reasons. First it's all the things you have learned so far in one big so called "Test". Second , it kind of helps you to remind that exams are sign of school or semester/term ending time and after that you won't have to do exams for some time (if at all). All those exams and things like that are all about your thinking. Think positive and everything should be ok.
