How do you get referrals?

I don't really do reward websites or anything but I'm thinking of starting something that involves people joining my website. How do you attract people to become a part of a system that you like? Just looking for some advice.

I think you can try promoting your refferal link in your facebook, twitter, or forum with a description about the site, and traffic exchange site, beside promoting your link, you can earn money too, here the traffic exchange site: - easyhits4u - hitbandit - hitsclub - trafficbonus.

How is trafficbonus? I'm using trafficadbar. It's fairly working. But Easyhits4u is really doing good, except we have to painfully surf before we get a referral. (I very much like the splash page option of EasyHits)
Have you got any referrals from any of the TEs you mentioned? I just want a hint.

I earn referrals through my blog. My blog niche is all about online earning places. I put my referrals every time I post a blog post. I do also some SEO and other stuffs to increase the viewers for my blog. :D

For me one of the most effective methods is to do website exchange, you find someone that is a member of one website you'd like to join and you offer that person joining to that website if he joins one of yours. This way you only get one referral, but most of the times that referral going to be active on the site he joined
