Since joining the #24HourFitness I've come across many different activities finding ways to lose weight. Prior, I thought to myself, "Maybe I'll start off with the treadmill or the elliptical." I tried that and got bored in a week or two. Then that's when I was introduced to the Group X cardio fitness classes. Since I like dancing latin and hip hop I went along with #Zumba. I won't lie, there were only a few good instructors that knew how to coordinate Zumba. But it wasn't enough to my liking of knocking off those calories. I needed a workout that burned not just hundreds but even close or past thousands of calories within an hour workout. That's when I discovered #Turbo Kickboxing (TKB). Short brief history of Turbo Kick Fitness was discovered by amazing woman and Beachbody Fitness Instructor name Chalene Johnson. There are various Turbo Fitness series such as Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire and Turbo Sport. Overall, each turbo fitness combines various hands, feet, punches, kicks and varies on its speed and intensity. The two common workouts we do at the #24HourFitness are Turbo Kick and Turbo Sport. With the combination of jabs, hookups, knees, kicks, burpees, jumping jacks and even airjacks. Depending on your intensity, you can easily burn over 1,000 calories in an hour. The music is high pace, a mixture of hip hop, electro and even dubstep. To this date there are now 49 round series for Turbo Kick and many more to come. Each round differs from taste of music and coordination. Keep in mind since each round has a set structure of moves every instructor is different and some even modify their own moves for their interest or pushing for a higher intensity. Turbo Sport has only 4 series in the workout. It is fairly new, but it is double in its speed and intensity than Turbo Kick. Turbo Sport is not for the faint or those that have issues with asthma or other health problems - This is how intense it is. Whether TKB or TS each workout has its own "Turbo Round". This happens after doing the first 30 minutes then the sirens go off during the class. This round focuses on the mixup and high energy of doing the impossible. Think of it as if you're doing bootcamp, P90X, Insanity or military based workouts. You'll find yourself moving double the speed, doing airjacks, burpees and squats. I have been doing this series since 2010 and now that it's 2012 I can proudly say I have lost over 140+ pounds due to this fitness program. Believe me it's highly addicting!
