Why do some of us do it the hard way?

When I say this, I mean it in terms of laziness, lol. Sometimes when some of us are on the couch and the remote is a good feet or two away; instead of easily getting up to get it and sit back down (which takes only about 3 seconds); some of us, instead, try to use our feet to grab it and hope it doesn't fall down or do some other kind of method. To the people who know what I'm talking about, why do some of us do it the hard way instead of the most straightforward kind of way?
