there are a few things you can do... 1. sit and read what everyone is saying without ever saying a word 2. only write stuff about who you are and who you are looking to chat with 3. pm a lot of random people on the hopes of finding someone to chat to 4. you involve yourself in all the conversations going on there are many more things you can do but these were just to name a few what is it that you do? me personally i like to see what everyone is talking about and include myself if i am familiar with the topic. i rarely like to pm people because you never know who they will turn out to be. i am kind of curious what every one else does when they enter into a chat room :) ur thoughts??

I like chat rooms though I don't speak in them that often now but there was a time that I spoke in them more and I've made friends and found someone for a serious relationship on 1. I would watch and join in when I felt comfortable and would discuss whatever is being discussed if I have something to add and basics about myself. I don't mind private messages as long as it doesn't get overwhelming which can happen. It can be hard to keep up with all the conversations and the chat lingo but I got used to it in time though I may have forgotten some now. I have to be in the mood for it and sometimes there aren't many people but it can be fun when there's some people having good conversation and if you make friends. It's cool to meet people from around the world and if you have similar interests.

I agree with you and those are some of the good and bad about chat rooms. I find that I don't go to them that often unless I'm really in the mood. I enjoy when I have a good conversation when people actually talk and want to converse about something substantial. I haven't been involved with chat rooms long enough to know what they were like but it's too bad they used to be better. Maybe if you have your own chat room where you can control it with your own rules it could be better but I don't want to do that.

one of my favorite things to do (when i did go in chat rooms) was to learn about diffrent parts of the world. you never know what u might learn :) yes you are right private messages can get over whelming and the lingo wow that took me a minute lol i use to ask everyone what they were saying. up unil last night i hadnt been in a chat room in 6 months and needless to say i wasnt impressed. it has changed a lot since i was in them. most people are not in for a friendly chat they want something more and that may have steered me clear for good lol

i would actually enjoy having my own chat room lol that way all the people who just want to talk and enjoy a good conversation has a place to go but i wouldnt know how to do that lol or if it costs something i wouldnt have the money to do so lol. i think i could go on all day about the good and bacd things about a chat room. they can be fun as long as you know how to use them correctly :) i use to go into chat rooms when i was a kid (even tho i was told i wasnt allowed lol) and back then it wasnt as dangerous and people just wanted to talk and have fun. they were not worried about your age or where u were from or if you were single.....i really wish some of the administrators would monitor them better and it would go back to the way it use to be :)

When I was new at chatting I usually do a lot of pms and chichat about life but later I focused myself on the public chatroom because it is where you see the interactions of people with different personality and how they react to the question asked. It is also more animated and less personal than pm. There is a disadvantage when doing private messages because I get disappointed in people who seems to be good at first but has ulterior motives :(. Sad to say but there are also bad, abusing people in the chatroom.

yes chat rooms are a great way to learn about diffrent things/views or other people from all around the world. yes it is very disappointing when all they want to know is your asl and if you are single. i love to find a person who just wants to chat and learn new things about where they are from :) i guess i just find it interesting to learn new things. Yes it is very bad to say but it is very true that there are some bad/abusing people in chat rooms and i hope that anyone that does go into a chat room does it in a safe way and doesnt give them to much information about themselves.

It's been forever since I've been in a chatroom, but I usually just watch everyone else. It was too hard for me to keep up with the discussions, so by the time I typed half of what I wanted to say, the topic was changed and I would have looked like an idiot. Well, part of that may be because I use proper spelling and grammar when chatting, so it takes a little longer to get out.

you sound like me lol. i do not really use to "proper spelling and grammar" but when i do chat i try to be a point blank as i can be so it takes a few more words that way there are no ?'s later lol so most times i am unable to say what i want to before the conversation has changed. it has been about a 6 months since i have been in a chat room. i jsut dont really see the thrill in them.

I haven't joined a chat room for a very long time now... I usually don't feel comfortable in chat rooms because I'm a typical lurker - there is hardly anything I can chat about, because either I have nothing to add, or the people chatting there already know each other. What I remember is that I always saw everyone PM-ing with each other which annoyed me, but i know that in busy chat rooms it's impossible to talk to everyone.

it has been a while since i have been in one also but it seemed that every time i did go into one i would get the pms that only wanted to know your ASL and if you were single. thats not what i was looking for lol. that is very true there are always way to many people in chat rooms so i guess a pm is the best option specially if you do not want to show everyone what you are talking about...

Hmm... I love chat role plays and the usual chitchat times. :) I also love lurking and just reading others' chats.
