i have been working on a government office over six months already and ive noticed alot of discrepancies regarding a lot over which most of its employees are enjoying.. not only that, there are a lot of government money being wasted over a lot of things not really necessary for public service.. also, there is this instance that i came across at the STOCK or STORAGE room were i found out a lot good materials being kept and and most of them rusted.. i have asked the incharge in the storage room about the materials and he pointed out with his pointing finger a poster on the ceiling of the storage room saying "WHAT YOU SEE, WHAT YOU HEAR, Stays in here"...

That's really a very disturbing motto for a government office. Any government undertaking should always be transparent. It's the taxpayer's money that makes it run and as such the people should know where their money is going. By the looks of it, your office is doing something not legal. It really smells of corruption. I think you better think very hard if you want to continue working at an office that is knowingly shortchanging the public.

i plan to continue working because of finding a job is hard now a days and i have a lot to spend too.. but i have been thinking of setting things right in the office.. hoping i could talk things out to our boss and discuss slowly on how to make improvements on taking out most of the il habits at the office.. though my only hope is that my boss is not the prime doer of all crimes committed in the office.. because if so.. i might just lose a job soon..

That would really be hard if your boss was actually the one condoning these activities. Plus the fact that you're just new. They could easily do something to make you lose your job. If you can't convince them to change their bad habits, I think the best thing for you to do for now is not to be part of any illegal acts they do. Just do your job the honest way.

or i could work hard enough and climb up to the position that i will become the boos the the office then i could start changing the routinely bad hobbies in the office... but in reality it will take me like 15-20 years to do so.. i wish there would be easy way..

We had this motto when i was in college when i joined a military training to promote loyalty within the system. But in your case since you're working in the government, i think you should make a report to another government agency dealing with such corrupt practices.

Taking steps to rectify something that is wrong within the system would somehow create order. The issues that would arise surely would be resolved in the long run as soon as order is in place. If the wrong things that you have observed and seen will continue, then it would be the way it is which is wasting much needed funds and resources for the government. It is hard to keep a blind eye on things that you wrongfully see and not doing any anything to make a difference.

doing so would be risky.. reporting to other agency will create issues that will soon be uncontrollable.. also i have my hopes over to the people i work with...

Good day keithgwapz, The office motto that you have shared is fine. Hence, in that way, confidential things are being kept in secret.

this is really sad. the taxes we are paying should go to where it should. they should not waste the money from our taxes because we work hard for it. and i am bothered my their motto. i think the government should always be transparent and the people should know. i am worked for a government agency for 6 months, and i must say, our current government here is lacking good management. that is why, i resigned and i am currently working fro private company now.

i agree with government having poor management... but i believe benefits from the government out weigh in the private sectors.. that is why im staying... i also believe that i can make changes in my out most capacity.. though it will be risky as it may affect my relationship with the people i work in.. also, im also being given some advice by some employees to get use to the culture in the office... though i plan not too..

everyone knows there are things like this that happen but nothing changes because they are afraid to say what they know but i can understand because they are afraid for their and their family's safety. in the hospital or field of medicine, that saying applies too, but that is right. everything must be kept confidential. but in offices especially the government? no it's not right. a lot of us will just keep hoping that someday people will have the balls to say what really happens inside government offices.

i know, if it was me, i wouldn't say anything too for the sake of my family's safety. hmmm a lot of my classmates in college work in government offices now too after graduating from nursing.

I know that there are a lot of things going in different branches of the government. However, as you read on the posted motto, what you see, what you hear, when you leave, leave it here. I think that it's not always true in every circumstances. There are times when we need to do something that can effect changes for the better. If we keep our mouth shut even when we see a crime committed, we are liable and can be partakers of these wrong doings. If you intend to talk, then it may be good to resign from your post and talk about it with the concerned agency.

i do not plan to talk because i do not plan to resign.. though i plan to make changes bit by bit in a way or in my out most capacity.. though again it will be hard for me to do so but its worth a try... if ever i get fired from it i guess it will serve just learning experience from me...

that is a cover up motto so what to expect to a government that s full of loopholes. so the employees just follow their superior examples so any complaint may result for any employees to get a bad rapport to the admin. so even it is wrong, the subordinate employees just do what the motto stated as one way to cover up the anomaly. aside from those anomalous transaction and red tape. the nepotism also prevail. there are only few left government officials who have a decency and most could belong to a crook. the only way to deal with them is to refuse to particulate if your being task to do something that would endanger your reputation so they need to do it themselves. you could only be safe by mot becoming their accomplice. as an observer, it is better that way. if happen you get promoted you could correct those wrong policy as you already have the rights for now it is good to just follow the flow but never actually join in their wrong doing. just remain silent and less vocal about it. as t is hard nowadays to get lay off.

that's exactly my plan it, but the downside of becoming the boss of the office is it will take me 15 to 20 years to do so... much more i have to set my mind to focus on preventing myself from being corrupt as this things a very tempting.. its like living a good life there is so much kick backs from it... it will be like an extra income for me for job who pays less...
