Yesterday i was in the mood on sci-fi dreaming... i imagine how cool is that if one day in the future, when human race is already tired of war with each other, we have this supermega project, where we transform our planet into a giant space ship... That way we can move our planet to any other places in the universe.... it can be also useful to avoid meteorite that will hit earth. My question to mylotters who understand the physics of the universe is.... If somehow we can move earth, will there any effects on other planets on our solar system? can other planet be out of balance and start act differently?

There'd be effects on our planet, like getting much hotter (like Venus or worse) or much colder (like Mars or worse). If we insulated, where would the light to run our necessary photosynthesis come from? I suppose, eventually, if by some miracle anyone on earth survived the journey, we might find a new sun and the right distance from it, but there'd still be the same old meteorite problem to worry about - or worse.

However, if you feel like it, you can still write a science fiction based on your idea - not all sci fi writers had the scientific qualifications of an Arthur C Clarke, and even he could sometimes forsake scientific plausibility for the sake of an entertaining read, or even plain humourous bathos (the Venutian reptiles and what they discovered being an example).

I imagine while our planet travel to other places, we will simulate sun's effect needed for photosyntheis with our technology. Thank's for suggesting me to write a sci-fi, but i'm not much of a writer.. LOL

surfer222..Instead of disrupting the current order of planets, how about we just develope technology to take out meteoroids or asteroids before they crash and burn on earth..

yes, that could work too, but what if our sun is dying...

This defies logic.

It is nice to be a day dreamer, it boost our imagination. In a dream, things are all possible. It's been an over usage of saying, "world peace!" A solidarity greetings or given as a statement. The big question, "when it will be?"
