Any home remedies of recurrent nasal congestion? I don't have running nose or cold, but often suffer from blocked nose. What are the foods that I should avoid and the foods that I should take more?

It really depends on what causes your nasal congestion. If you have allergic rhinitis, you can treat this naturally you exposing your back on a morning sunlight at least 30 minutes a day after taking a bath (don't take bath afterwards because it might result on having water on your lungs). You can also try nasal steaming procedure by placing hot water on a cup, invert funnel on the cup then try to sniff slowly the steam until you feel that it was already on your nasal areas. In the end, better consult an expert about your condition.

You can put your clothes on. No need to add something on the water.

hi! typical home remedies would include good hydration (meaning drink lots of water) and drink herbal tea. also, plenty of rest and lots of fresh air in your immediate environment. if you are suffering from any allergies, it is best to consult with your doctor. if you are suffering from other effects, a good medical diagnosis would help. (ex: breathing and sleep disorder, sneezing etc. may occur depending on case.) it is also recommended sufficient intake of vitamin c as it helps improve our overall immune system. some of the cases i've encountered were able to remove a pea-sized white blockage in their nasal area. but it depends on what's causing it in the first place. check on your lymph nodes area, specifically around the neck. feel the area just an inch below your ear going halfway thru below your chin. do it on both sides. if you can feel a lump or a slight pain then it could be colds wanting to come out. typical foods to avoid are milk and milk-based foods as well as sugary foods. fruits and natural fruit juices are good to take.

what we normally use is an herbal tea mixture of ampalaya-sambong-banaba. sambong and banaba being diuretics and helps break down toxins and foreign agents in the body. an herbal tea with rosemary could be good also as it's known as a remedy for colds too.

If it doesn't go away it's better to check with a doctor to find out what it is caused by. What I found to work for blocked nose is eating hot spicy food. I don't eat spicy every day, so when I do it's quite effective. Especially chili and ginger. I read that many people have very mild to severe lactose or milk intolerance, and even if it doesn't cause any problem normally, it can make nasal congestion or cold symptoms worse. I tested it and for me it helps if I reduce the amount on milk and dairy.

I think you have allergic rhinitis. Do you sneeze often? Anyways it is better to have yourself checked by the doctor for an accurate diagnosis and then after that ask some medicines and ways to manage it. It is better to know what you have than try something that might worsen your condition instead of you getting better. If it is indeed allergic rhinitis, avoid dusty places. My sister and bro have one, the doctor prescribed a nasal spray and anti histamine medication.

I sneeze only in the early mornings after I wake up, the nasal congestion is more in the night and I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with nasal congestion.

You're asking about self help and food that you can increase or decrease. Typically, dairy products would be foods you might want to temporarily avoid. Hot foods like cayenne/red pepper, jalapeno peppers, curry powder and spices that are rich in vitamin C could help break down mucus and clear it out of your respiratory system. I like using foods, herbs and spices to improve my health. Good luck with it all!

I think it's allergies. Just drink plenty of water.
