Trying to buy a new car

So we're finally getting a bigger car so it's easier for me to tote the baby around. We want a certain mid-size SUV, the simplest model, I do not need all the bells and whistles. Well apparently that's just an impossible request, because every dealership we've spoken to thus far has jerked us around and tried to sell us a higher model, therefore more money, or another car completely. We had one dealership try to sell us a two seater sports car. It was absolutely ridiculous! When my Husband said he was looking for a family car, the guy just shrugged, and said the sports car was a better investment. We're getting frustrated with dealing with everyone, and the one dealership who hasn't tried to up-sell us apparently can't quite seem to acquire the one we want. We already compromised on the color, but really you would think we were asking them to invent it for us or something. We don't want to be forced into buying one of the more expensive models just because the majority of the dealerships don't want to look for the one we want. This last dealership is the only one who's actually worked to try and find us what we want. It's still such a headache though.Hopefully tomorrow we'll get the call letting us know that the one our guy has tracked he got and is waiting for us. If not, I don't know what we're going to do next. Have you gotten headaches trying to purchase a car before?

A little. But it wasn't from car dealers trying to push my husband and I around. It was because our old pickup had had it and we were out of a car. As we're in the country my poor hubby had to ask for rides to the store and to work from our neighbors son, and with my husband being in construction, had loads of tools to bring with him. Fortunately, the son didn't mind. In fact, he loved it a little too much. So much so, he'd stick around my husband's job (and around my husband)...for the entire day! Needless to say it drove my husband insane! On the plus side, it got us to find a vehicle quickly, although for my husband's point of view it probably wasn't fast enough! LOL Don't get me wrong, we certainly appreciate what the neighbor's son had done. We just never liked having to rely on someone else driving us around. Happy mylotting! PS Good luck finding that perfect car!

It's ok, it sounds like we are finally getting our car, and we only had to argue a little bit!

Can you by privately and come out better? I'd try that if this guy can't track down what you need. You may be able to find a gently used SUV that would suit your needs and your budget. Good luck with the search. I am about to buy my first car (late starter when it coems to driving) but I've got people to help me. Though I've got knowledge on which is the best model.

We would do that, but the people we got our loan through are kind of strict about where we can buy, private sellers are out.
