Does anyone have any advice on how to train a dog for a dog show? Any specific websites or tips that you think would be helpful?

Showing a dog is a very hard business, and even harder for a beginner. Most dogs that are going to be show dogs are literally trained from the minute they are born. If you have not had your dog this long, it will be a little more difficult, but not all together impossible. First, you must ask yourself if your dog is equipped to be a show dog. Before you start spending every dollar you have on preparing this dogs for shows, first check out the standards for the national shows. There are certain qualifications for each dog that they must qualify for physically, before anything else is done. (weight, height, coloring...etc). Then, if all that checks out I recommend for the first time hiring an experienced handler for the dog in the ring who won't transfer any of their emotions to the dog and will make sure the dog looks its best. Also, getting groomer tips in the mean time from other show experts might be a good idea too.
