Panic Attack over allergies

With the onset of spring, allergies are wreaking havoc on many people. I encountered a rough spot with them. Last night I broke out in a really bad rash. One that actually looked like measles and had me in a panic. I work with older people and would not want to infect them with something like that. When I was told that it looked like measles by someone in the medical field I freaked, explained to them that I had measles when I was a child and that it was not possible. It was explained to me that it was possible to get another attack of the disease. I got even more concerned because of the number of people I had been around yesterday and the day before. I finally got a hold of my doctor, found out that it was a bad allergic reaction. Talk about a relief. Now I have to just worry about all the meds I have to take for the next week. So glad I was able to find out the truth.

Glad to hear that you didn't have measles. But sorry that you are having severe allergies. I think that for the most part those who don't suffer from allergies take things like enjoying the nice weather and everything that's in bloom for granted. I can imagine how hard it would be to deal with allergies and the problems it cause. I'm happy though that as of yet I haven't had problems with allergies except for in foods.

Over the years, my allergies have gotten progressively worse. Which really sucks, I love the outdoors and enjoy spending as much time as I can outside. Nowadays, if I don't remember to take something,I'm a mess. I didn't know I would be this type of mess though. ugghhh....

I have heard friends say that as well. That over the years they notice their reaction to certain things has become worse. Yeah you definitely will have to remember to take something especially if that is what is going to happen to you. You don't want to take the chance.

Oh I understand that feeling. I once worked with the elderly in the medical field and if that had happened with me I would not have been able to go into work as I knew you would not have either. That is an odd allergic reaction / allergy though but glad you found out that it was just that. My allergies manifest themselves in the way of throat problems and stuffy nose.

I actually had just started working with the elderly when this happened to me. Talk about scaring the crap out of someone. I was more worried about the people that I was taking care of. I didn't want to give them anything. That would really make me feel terrible.

do what you can to look after your allergies. i once had an allergic reaction to some medication and broke out in hives, all over my body! i took over the counter meds but the hives started to interere with my breathing (i have fairly severe asthma) and so i ended up going to emerg to get treated with a strong dose of antihistamine.

I know that feeling. I am highly allergic to coconut and have had a reaction so bad that I have ended up in the hospital for it. This one is from all the airborne allergens right now. Never had this severe of a reaction before though. Its horrible. And wow do I itch. :o/
