Hey there fellow lotters, I would just like to share one of my dreams, it is to have my two TV's fixed, one the 14 incher the speaker does not work and i need to get a new remote for it, while my 21 inch Sony wega shows green and turns off on it's own and also I need a new remote for that so i guess when the time comes and the money comes, i'll have them all done. Take care now people. This discussion is really odd.

I have 3 TVs all of two of which are thirty years old. For one, the remote no longer works, but I use a DVR remote to change channels. Another old TV can only get 30 cable channels so I use an old VCR and the VCR remote to switch channels. I remember long ago TVs used to have tubes in them before the days of solid state. The tubes would burn out and you needed to try to figure which tube might be bad and go to a store and check them with a tube tester. With solid state TVs now they change a whole circuit board unless they know what part to change.

hey there burrito so you are trying to say that old TV's are much more durable and easy to fix compared to te more complicated versions of the television today, thanks for the comment.

The tube TV's were problematic and had many problems besides just changing the tubes. The solid state TV's were more reliable and seemed like they tended to last longer. To fix a problem though you usually had to replace a whole circuit board instead of just one tube or part. My old TV's were/are of that type. Just recently I broke down and got two new TV;s to replace two of my old sets. There was no problem with the old sets, they still work. However, I wanted to get newer sets that were more energy efficient. I didn't have to spend any money for the TV's also. I had a lot of frequent flyer miles and had no plans to travel soon so I cashed in miles for 2 TV's. But now I have to do something with the two older sets.

It seems to me that you have so many things in the house bro. I have only a mountainbike and TV ....mmmm..an old one...it's nothing to brag about that, though. I don't have much time for tv nowadays. The reasons are actually the TV programs are not any of my interest, bro. So, I'd rather jot down on mylot.

Yeah me too bro but there are just some movies that i would really love to watch on the DVD and I think that I should try to just dispose of my old stuff and maybe save up for new stuff when I can right?

I think, your dream of fixing your two TV sets my be costly than acquiring new 32incher LCD/LED TV. Parts of old TV's might be difficult to find these days and if you find one, it might be expensive. Plus the service cost of fixing it. Your 21 inch Sony might have problems with its picture tube, and if indeed the picture tube is damaged, then it is as good as junk. But you may have it checked and assess the possible cost of repair before having it fixed. Good luck!

Hey there Strawberry, The cost was cheap for the repairs and for the parts of the TV and as of now it is already doing fine and I have or i can watch on it now, very nice but I wish to have a new flat screen TV but that might take a while.

Did you finally have your televisions fixed? Here is an idea. Why not sell them both and add a little money and get yourself a new plasma television. You will have saved on space in the house and also, you will have kept up with the changing time. A time will come when the older model televisions will not work anymore. What will you do then? It will be impossible to get rid of them.
