i am not a very good cook actually i rarely cook and i know that my husband would like me to but i really dont know how. i know that you can read the package or the bo or a recipe but i even manage to mess those up and i dont have the money to just try to fi something and ruin it. his birthday is in august and our anniversary in july so i would like to fix him something special. at the same time he works a lot and very hard and i would like to surprise him :) so here i would like to hear some ideas on fast (because i have 2 kids and sometimes can not be in the kitchen that long or the 2 will start fighting) and easy to start me off. ANY IDEAS??? HOW DO YOU MAKE IT? HOW IS IT BEST SERVED? WAHT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD? ANY TIPS ON HOW TO GET BETTER WITHOUT WASTING ALL MY FOOD AND MONEY?

Get yourself a slow cooker. You can set this up to cook on HIGH for 4 hours or LOW for 8 hours. The amount of electricity used is very minimal - about 1p per hour. The basics of any recipe for this type of cooking is to put the vegetables in first and then the meat on top. This way the vegetables get cooked nicely and the meat doesn't get stuck to the bottom. There are packet mixes available especially for slow cookers and they tell you what ingredients you need. This way you can get everything prepared early in the day and you can be doing other things whilst the meal is cooking. My advice is to get one with WARM on it as well, that way if the meal is cooked but you can't serve it straight away it will be kept at a good temperature for when you are ready for it.

i do have a slow cooker but never really knew how to use it lol i am not sure it has ever been used since we got it haha does it really matter what kind of vegetables or meat? basically can you make your oen kind of thing with what you want in it and it turn out ok? i am very picky when it comes to vegtables and things lol where do i find those packets?? ive never seen them but will be on the look out now :) that will be so much easier with the kids and trying to get the house clean all at the same time. i am not sure if mine has warm on it or not but i hope so because it wil not always be used right when it is done if not i may have to go oiut and get another 1 :) thank you for the advice it is very helpful. i feel kinda weird not knowing how to cook at my age and with me having a family but i never cared when i was younger and had someone to help me so it is harder for me now but i am willing to try and learn i would like to have dinners like they should be and then my husband wont have to cook all the time and i KNOW he will like that lol

i actually live in the US but i am sure that they have them like you said i will just have to ask an assistant. this is something i will be very interested in and ready to try it seems very easy :) what do you mean by chunky?? i like corn it that not a goos choice since it is small? sry for all the questions lol i am really not good at all i cant make much haha wow i didnt know a slow cooker can cook all that. i have been missing out haha. that would be way cheaper to get the whole chicken than to buy the already cooked and make things that way :) how do you know when it is done? i know it sits in it all day cooking but still what if its not sone when it says it should be done? and how do you not burn it? do you have to stir it up? wow i am sry again i am asking you a lot of questions.. :s i would love to take a class at out local college but i am afraid it will be to expensive but it is something to look in to. yes our college does have a child care type thing i think it is the students in class for child care that watched them but from my understanding there is a teacher around so they will be safe. that is a big problem for me (well not a problme i love my kids but it makes it harder to do things like that with them) and that would help me be able to go to class. that is another idea i will be looking into :) yes you have been of some GREAT help and i sppriciae it all :) thank you!

If you live in the U.K. you can get the packet mixes in the supermarket normally where the other sauce mixes are; if you're unsure ask a shop assistant. What vegetables and meat you use are up to you, the only thing I would say is keep the vegetables chunky otherwise they can turn mushy in the slow cooker. I've used my slow cooker to cook joints of meat, even a frozen chicken! The meat just falls apart and has such a lovely flavour to it. Just bear in mind that the outside of the cooker can get very hot so keep it out of the way of the children. Also, have you thought about taking a cookery course at your local college? Some of them even offer childcare if this is a concern of yours. Hope this has been of some help to you and enjoy your cooking experiences.

First of all, you have to know what are your husband's favorite foods. From there choose one which you can specially make. Before you go to the recipe try to learn the terms used, such as saute, baste , marinate , simmer and other cooking terms. With that, you will know how to go about cooking them. SInce it will be tiresome cooking it, with 2 kids around, maybe you can just buy the other favorite foods. But at least, you have one specially cooked food for him.

lol its not that he is picky but there are some that he just hates so that is a good point haha i will need to find out because we normally have the sae old stuff and i am getting tired of that lol and not sure what his favorite is but i will be finding out and trying it a few times to be sure that it is perfect when its a special occassion :) i know some of terms lol would you like to give me a quick, short or long (whatever you feel like doing) lol explination of them??? that would help me figure things out better. if you dont feel like doing it where can i find the terms?? yes my kids are always clinging to me when i am in the kitchen so it is hard to try and cook sometimes. about a yr ago i would cook when they went to bed so i could have more concentration and we would heat it up for a meal :) but i am ready to do it like it is spose to be done lol. thank you for the advice i think for now making 1 special thing and buying the rest will be the easiest thing to do :)

First is to try search some recipes. Then put give it a try and ccok it but you need to make it in a small scale only like just for a single person, then let other taste it. If this will be good for them, you may now increase the volume of what you are going to cook. I suggest that you should not follow strictly what's in the recipe, you must also need to know if the taste is already enough or you need to add something. This is what I always did when I saw new recipe that captures my attention. They say practice makes perfect. You are not be able to put the dishes you want to cook into a perfection for the first time. There is always failure in some areas. Try to visit my blog - http://chemist9861.blogspot.com. There are easy to cook recipes there that I made by my own, inspired by recipes from cooking shows, cook books, internet, etc... Happy cooking...

thank you for that link i will check that out tomorrow evening and may be write them down to keep them in mind. i am hoping to get a notebook of all the recipes i have tried of diffrent things. may be start with 3 diffrent things and when i get those down pat i will move on to more to add to the notebook lol i think that may be the best way for me to get better that way i will do this slowly. i feel bad that he does it a lot and i know hed be happy to come home to dinner already ready for him :) thank you also for the advice i guess no matter what i do i am going to have to mess up sooner or later but the longer i wait the longer it will be before i will know how. i guess the best way to learn is to just do it lol. i am not very good at adding things lol i wouldnt know what to add but may be it is a learning process...

I don't know how to cook as well before but through the help of videos in YOUTUBE and cooking websites I learned. What I do first is try out what I want to cook in little proportions. Instead of buying a kilo of ingredients I only buy like 1/4 of it. Then test if I can cook it. I tried so many recipes in different websites and so far my husband is satisfied. My favorite right now is the Egg Noodles with Chicken which I read in a website then I tried to put other ingredients and cook it the way I wanted it. Hehehe.. Lucky me since his family liked it the way I cooked it. If you know someone who can guide you on cooking, ask them to help you. I didn't have someone to teach me now since I'm living only with my husband but the internet has a lot of information that you can use to your advantage. Good luck to you!

i can suggest allrecipes.com and foodnetwork.com. most of the western dishes that i make comes from these websites. i also don't know how to cook some of my country's "native dishes" i just go to Youtube and check out some of the popular dishes that we have. when you're very good in cooking i hope you can try to cook one of my country's popular dish ADOBO. hope you'll have time in the future to have a cooking buddy. happy cooking!

Yeah everyone nows you cant cook lol im just messing with you. It always nice to have some one fix supper for you at times though so i can under stand that he would want you to fix him supper from time to time. I can under stand not having the money to mess up. But for his birthday or your anniversary you could always have someone come over before he gets off of work and cook supper and then never tell him how you did it lol. That would be so kool. And as far as the cake you could go and buy the stuff give it to me and i can cook it and i will decorate it and you can pay me just a little bit for my time lol :) . I would go easy on you though i wouldnt charge you that much cause i now how things are right now. There are alot of things that are really easy to do. Fried chicken is pretty easy and a really good meal. Alot of people do it differnt ways though. I always take the chicken dip it in egg and then put it into flower. then you brown it just a little bit on both side in like a frying pan and then put it into the oven. You can also just put bread crumbs on it and just put it into the over. I always set the oven on like 375 and then cook it for about 45 min to an hour. Hope this helps and let me now if you try this. I would like to now if it works out for you.

i have actually had my neighbor come over to "help me" fix something for him but that has been a while ago now lol and she didnt really help me it was like she did it all so yes he got something to eat but not the way i wanted it i wanted to learn how. we made chili and put it on the scoop tortillia chips and put cheese on told OMG it was good. i am hoping to figure out what al i need for that and how to make it because my husband really liked that and its been a while since we had that lol. ill keep that in mind about the cake lol but once i figure out how to make a cake then starting next week i will kind of know how to decorate it lol as long as its not to hard to figure out haha but since we wil be going to the sae class id like you to show me how to do atleast 1 or 2 of those flowers if you dont mind :) i think they are kool adn i would love to be able to do that :) i have never heard chicken made like that (by browning both sides before you put it in the oven) but it sounds good. when my husband makes it he uses bread crumbs and they are so good :) i know he would be happy for me to make that for him i am sure. i want to start making like a reguar dinner with the sides like it is suppose to be with vegetables and all because we rarely eat like that and with my 2 kids we really need to start some better dinner habits and i am willing to learn and hopefully get better so i can do that lol thanx for telling me how to make that i will be getting a notebook and picking like 2 or 2 things and when i get those done and they turn out good then i will add more to it. i figure it is the best way to do this lol . any other ideas you have will be greatly appriciated :) so if you have more recipes or anything i have open ears to hear them haha it doesnt even have to be dinner stuff deserts would be good to or breakfast/snacks/lunch/ect i want to be able to cook many things for him and not just dinner :) i guess i wanna be able to do more for him because he does A LOT for me i dont have any chicken now but when i get some i will let you know or probly make another post to tell everyone how it is going :) if i could only take pictures on my phone and upload them i would post them each time i *mastered* a dish haha

You can try searching on the internet about some recipes. As what others mention above, you have to ask your husband what he like to eat. Or, if you want to surprise him, think of a dish that your husband really like and try searching a SIMPLE recipe for it coz some recipes online looked very hard to make. So, you have to find the SIMPLE or EASY one of making it.

Ask your mother,or anyone that you know can cook. Recipes on the internet or in cookbook does'nt always work when people make them. Experience cook does matter. But most of all you have to spend more time with your family. Ask them what they like. Ask them what are their suggestion on your cooking. I believe they will appreciate it. I hope it works with your family

you see you can do some thing in the kitchen at least but you shall have to believe me that I am totally useless when it comes to cooking. In fact I am not even good with tea etc. But what I feel that I must learn it soon, because if there is no one around to do it for me, i shall have no option to go out to eat.

yes i am able to do a few things in the kitchen and i am planning on buying a lot of diffrent things this week from the store so that i can try a few diffrent things for my husband when he gets home from work. that is true and that is what i have realized. i have to know how to take care of me and my family instead of relying on my husband in case he has to work out of town like he did last week.
