well i just wondered about this. I am trying to go back to the time where there was no social networking sites of some sort. I had my first computer and first internet connection way back 1999, i know some people had it way before that but it was a bit late here so that was when net cafes boomed, sprouting like mushrooms and my mom had to buy me my own desktop as i tend to go to cafes often lol. But i am looking back now as to what i do online back then, well i only researched..hmmm chat on the IRC lol and search for music, that was all i did mainly! The first social networking site that i know of was friendster was back in my college days.. and well that was when the craze all started.. it was like everyone was online because of that! but really like was simpler back then without these.. i do not have connections to my long lost relatives, long lost classmates which was not bad actually but really..now i know where they are, what they do and vice versa. what did you do back then online? plus back then i didnt know you can earn online!

I think I got introduced to the internet in 1998. My brother accompanied me to the net cafe and taught me how to search song lyrics. Lol. That's what only I did that time. Then I made an account on friendster. Just like you said, I was a bit crazy about it. But I didn't really connect to it. Then facebook came along with FarmVille and everything. So I started to become addicted to facebook and forgot friendster (and finally I deactivated it). :)

Ufff...lucky you. I got bored of the game right now as there are too many quests to finish in a short time! We used to have fun with neighbors, we mock at each other, visit each other's farm and remind them that the crops are dry and so on. But now? All posts say "Please help me asap!! I only have few hours left!!!" and something like that. It seems there's no fun anymore. :(

Well,I don't know anything about computers before, just the basics..it's without the internet connection. First thing I've learned from a computer with an internet connection was the yahoo messenger. I had to chat with my hubby whenever he is at work. I even don't know how to use the camera before, yay! Good thing the employees in the internet cafe are kind enough to teach me,lol! And then hubby introduced me to facebook and he even made me an account there. I wasn't minding it at all but when I logged in my fb account,I saw lots of my high school and college friends making a friend request and I was so happy to see them all and we even had a reunion, that's because of fb,haha! And then I got addicted to poker in fb,haha! And a year after,I had a chance to read some ways to earn money online and I was happy to know about those sites and mylot is one of them. Now I could say my time online is more worthy, lol!

Hello jazel, We got net connection in office very early but I never used the net connection for any personal purpose. Once I opened a mail id with yahoo but never used the same. In office we used it for reading international newspaper as it is the part of our job. It was a dial up connection and often net got disconnected too. Later we changed into broadband connection. I started to use the internet for my personal life after having my second child. Just searched for money making or home based jobs, by thinking to leave the job. But I realized making money online is not so easy and sufficient to replace my offline job. Anyway I am happy to be a part of mylot and made some online earnings along with great friends.

In 1997 I used the internet for the first time, but at that time I didn't have my own computer and my own internet connection, and I only used the internet at my school. Today I use the internet in so many different ways. In the beginning I only used the internet when I wanted to find information about a topic that I was interested in. I didn't know how to chat, send and receive emails, use online forums or social networking sites or anything like that, I only searched for information. After some time I learned how to chat and how to write emails, but I still didn't know anything about social networking sites or online earning sites, that came much later

More or less a decade ago, before earnings/networking sites boomed, we only uses our computer for kids research and for our cellphone repair shop.I can still remember using "Encarta" for research since internet connection is not popular by that time. I use to search for other networking sites since I joined networking companies and also come to know other earning sites that give us extra earnings online.

I cannot imagine my life without internet and all these social networking sites. I knew about internet when I was in highschool, it was a bit too late because seems that everyone started to know internet since they are a kid. Like nowadays my 7 years old nephew knows how to operate computer and knows how to browse internet but thank God his mother doesnt make him a FB account. I used to love chatting but then I get bored from it, it is like all we got is this message hey how are you and bla bla I have yahoo messenger but I only add 1 person there (my tutor) so we can communicate to each other through yahoo messenger and the best thing is that we dont have to introduce each other whenever we come online hehehe just a joke. I closed my FB few months ago for a reason and now my internet life is only about mylot, myblog and my assignment. I've been at situation where I was in a dorm school and the headmistress not allowed us to connect to internet, hahaha but I was sneaking to internet caffe when she was unaware. I love those moment, many classmates thought Im addicted to internet. but Internet is very useful for me, I learn so many things from internet, watch video tutorial on youtube, connect with people around the world on mylot. So I cant imagine if one day internet dissapear from our world and we no longer have internet, everything is going to be different. The era before I knew internet was about listening music and reading my favorite books, climbing the tree to get mango fruits or guava, then swimming in the river when my parent was not at home. The fun before internet era and during the internet is different but both has it owns fun.

Hi FF, what was your tutor for? i do tutoring online too Well my kid, who is 7 years old also knows how to operate the internet, she is savvy! I made her an fb account as she communicates with her classmates but i limit her usage for it. There is fun in the internet but there are also dangers in it that i do avoid for her..it is a scary place too if not used properly, like chatting for one as you meet strangers in chatrooms.
