My wife was rattling over how bad our water was. The colour turned brown. She thought it was probably full of dirt in the well. I didn't think it was because of dirt from the bottom of the well, but it must have been the deposition of dirt in the water tank on top the tower. So I said to her I wanted to check it out up there to see that it was some dirt in it. I used a ladder to go up the tower. I knew I was shaking if I went to a higher place. But today I had to do it and tried to forget my fear. It was right. There was a thick accumulation of dirt. I don't know where it came from. The water was clear and colorless. It was hard to clean up the tank as I needed special tool to clean the buttom. I used several towels to abosrb water and dirts. I couldn't clean it properly but that was adequate to have clean and colorless water. Did you have to clean your water tank yourself or you have it cleaned?

Hiya yanza, How brave of you to overcome your Fear yanza. Takes courage to do something like that. Also you were right and must be awkward to maintain as well I would imagine. Ours is cleaned by itself although the quality of the Water is not brilliant either but it is clean and safe so very thankful for that. Can understand your Wife if she has a lot of things to wash and that kind of Water coming out of the tap. That does happen here and we have the Water cut off for a few hours while they clean it all up and fix the leaks. A lot of People have a fear of heights and they do not like to tell other People but I don´t see what is wrong with that its just another fear that you can get over to some degree.xxx

I've had that water tank for 10 years. Only this year did I manage to pluck up my courage to climb up there. It was shaky at the beginning but once I was on top, I felt better.

Hiya yanza, At least you did it and that is a lot. Managing to be able to overcome your fright and get up there. I do that as well I don´t like heights but if I have to go up there I will not that I have a Water Tank but for other things I mean. You will feel better and really happy that the fear does not really exist its just a state of Nerves thats all that we can all have at any time in life. Now you can keep going up there with less fear than before I hope.xxx

We don't have water tank at home. I didn't feel the need to install it since the water pressure from the district water distribution system was fine. But I had experienced having brown water. I think the pipes were old, rusty, and accumulated sediments. The problem was solved when new pipes were installed.

You are lucky, then. In my area, we have no water supply from the local government. I was told that all water distribution system will be covering all areas in 2 years' time.

My well water for what reason I dont know has rust in it. So we have a filter on the line. I suggest you get a filter if you do not have one. I dont have a tank thing like you have so I know nothing about that. I'm guessing the water has a bit of dirt in it from being down in the ground. Overtime the dirt probably collects in this tank thing you have. You will probably have to clean it over on a regular basis so your water wont turn brown.

That's what i find difficult to do on regular basis. Thank for the info and suggestion. How deep is your well?

LOL well I understand that. I forget to do things on a regular basis I have to write everything down and hope I dont forget to look at the calender. I actually cannot change the filter by myself I have to have my father do it because you have to use this big tool to crank it off and its really hard. My well is 90 feet down. I can do load after load of laundry and I could run the dishwasher and take a bunch of showers and even in a drought I have never run out of water. I am very lucky. I know lots of people who have shallow wells and they run out of water very easily.

In that case you certainly have very expensive water pump. Did you have the one installed at the bottom of the well or another type?

I think our tank is still clean- it's a bit old though and haven't really checked it out. It does have some rust when it is just filled- but after a few minutes it's all gone. i think the problem is always with the container and not where the water come from.
