Why do many people consider the holy week as a leisure time? Holy week must be considered as time to remember all the sacrifices of Jesus for Christians but as i observed, because during holy week, holy days specially maundy thursday to black saturday are considered as holidays also so many workers are going on vacations during these days. They will attend parties, go to the beach and have some fun with their friends and most of them are Christians. It is good if they are from other religions but it is the other way around. Why not try to be inspired by the Muslims during Ramadan. No doubt many Christians are stubborn and many don't believe in there religion. Most of them only remember God if they have problems. Maybe this is because many Catholics were baptists when they are just babies. They don't know that they became a part of a religion which they do not what it believes. I am also a Catholic and during holy week i only stayed in our house. No parties, no beaches. Just home. Sometimes it is very boring during holy week. But maybe, let us just say that it is a way to sacrifice.

You are right, in our modern days, holy week has been seen as vacation especially those working in Metro Manila. This is their time to go home in their province since it is a long vacation. They usually forget the essence of having this kind of holydays. Yes it is really boring staying at house during this week but this could be one of sacrifices that you are going to do during this season.

Good time to meditate on 'The Passion of the Christ' (the punishment that Jesus went through that we should not have to) ... watch the Mel Gibson movie--don't let the kids see it--and you'll see what I mean.

It is certainly not a leisure time.
