Why is it so difficult to let go?

Ever wondered why it's so difficult to let go of a lost love? Is it difficult or it's me? I've observed that even if you don't love a person anymore, letting them go is such a difficult thing. What causes that? Most of the time you even come to realize that this person has never loved me or his/her love for me died a long time ago(this will be based on reflecting and thinking back). Most of the time even upon that realization, one tends to still say, maybe it's not what I think.
Is it love or lust or just that you used to seeing that person? Whatever it is, I don't like it.

I think because we already had bond because we take so many time to share our life together. We got used to had them around like someone to pick you up when back from work and hear your complain or simply think like having someone to fight with 
.
Human so easy to love and not every one I can handle to life with in one roof

I always think if I had to let someone go its means there someone better waiting for me, but yes its hurt at first.

Nangisha, don't mention picking you up from work, these days when i ask to be picked, i get car keys instead. Sad but true.

I think letting go is hard because you made that person a part of your life. They became so important to you, that your scheduled changed to agree with theirs, and your life becomes spontaneous with adventure. Once you have let them go, you have to fill that hole that they once were a part of in your life. And in the moments that you are most vulnerable and lonely, your mind goes back to the fun times you had with them and you may have a little regret. It is just best for a person to let those memories come back, but let them go as fast to because you must move on. If you are meant to be with that person again, they will enter your life again soon.

I agree, especially when you say changing you schedule to match with theirs, music good and even accent. I mean it all comes naturally when you are in love.

It is always like that....i pains a lot when you try to let go of the loved ones, no matter how you put it in, friendship, relationship everything is the same, you love them and you want them to be happy and you believe that you are the only one that can take care of them, that is why your heart longs to see that person, to know that he/she is doing okay...But its not so, letting them go is the best thing for you and them, its hard but we have to pacify ourselves to let this happen.

Thanks Shalla, well I don't want someone like him as maybe he will also disattach while I'm still holding on, I wish for a better soul.

you can't let go of the person maybe because of the friendship you have. letting go could hurt so much, but most of the time you have to endure the pain to live life without that person.

Maybe because you are still attached to the person even though you don't already love him anymore. The bond you had with this person is something special that's why even if you feel that you don"t love him anymore, there is something that pulls you away to let him go.
