My laptop computer lately have problem with the wireless connection, which the internal wireless scanner trying to find the network to connected to, and it appear that 802.11B / wireless thing either not hooked up, or it is dead. I don't know which. I have my router set up right, my sister's laptop get connected to my router wireless without problem. And I used this wireless USB stick connect to my other desktop works fine. So, if your 802.11 / wireless is not work, or probably it get loose internally, how would you fix this problem?

I also faced similar problem a few days back. Then I contacted my ISP. he gave DNS numbers in Internet options. Once that is given my laptop started accepting it and i am able to browse comfortably. Please check up with your ISP and get details.

My advice would be first call your ISP and he will give you advice. The router may be set up right but maybe it does not support your laptop or even your operating system. Find a router that supports both your sister's and your laptop.

Maybe it has got to do something with your OS? I mean Apple Computers cannot very much go online on a network for windows and vice versa. If they could there would be some problems here and there. Have you also tried resetting your wifi? Sometimes this helps with my connection when other computers in my house are connected to the network. The OS comprises of XP and Windows 7. Mine is Vista so I had a lot of issues. And if still this thing continues, why not manually connect to the network? I mean, create a new network under the name of your current network and work your way through there...

Back when I had an HP laptop, I had a similar problem with my wireless adapter. Most of the time it would not appear in my device manager. When it did, it would work for a few minutes and then stop. The problem actually wasn't with the wireless adapter. That laptop had a faulty motherboard, and the wireless adapter not working was just the first symptom my computer had. Within a couple of weeks it would not boot at all. I hope your laptop's problem isn't like that, but it probably would not hurt to have it looked at by a computer technician.
