I was able to catch this certain episode from a certain "Tulfo" show. I really can't remember the name of the show but I think the host's Raffy Tulfo. I really pitied the cancer patient after hearing her ordeals from this "faith healer" It so happened that the victim told her son and husband that she'll be vising her sister (I think) since she was lonely/bored and unknown to them, she decided to receive treatment from this "faith healer". She went with her nephew and the nephew was able to video the said "healing method" of the faith healer. The cancer patient received the following "treatment": 1. Resounding slap on the face 2. Boiling water poured on her feet (the faith healer said that she was possessed and she can't feel the pain since the one feeling it is the spirit) 3. Poked numerous times on the abdomen using a Sto. Nino staff/baton The woman died a week (or so) after the treatment. Autopsy said she died because of breast cancer but it also showed that she sported third degree burns on the feet and numerous bruises. According to the son-father tandem, they knew that their mom/wife will soon leave them. What they can't accept is that she suffered such torture before leaving for the other world.

that is utterly awful! i cannot believe stuff like this goes on in the world! i watched a programme once about a woman who shakes babies as a form of teaching and nurturing for them! i'm telling you now, if i had a baby and someone shook it, it'd be the last thing they ever did!! some people are just cold hurtful people, and just because they stick the word therapy on something doesn't make it any different from any other form of abuse. utterly disgusting.

So true. They deserve more than being jailed! About the woman who shakes babies, I was also able to see something like that but I think we saw different videos. I mean, babies are weak and very very sensitive. Most of their organs are not fully developed (meaning matured and strong) and even the slightest shake might hurt them! Any idiot would know that. I hope whoever did that be charged with child abuse!

I can understand how desperate one must be to try anything. When you have an illness you can go through so many horrible experiences, including some extremely aggressive therapies from radiation and so forth therapies that leave you weak and feeling defeated, you maybe feel like you've tried so many things with no results that anything, no matter how extreme is worth it. I mean, how far would you go if you had a condition that could possibly kill you and all the medical aids that were tried and given by doctors didn't work, you went through months of suffering, would you not also try everything you could in a last resort? I think in the healer case they took advantage of this, they took advantage of the innocence, desperation, at this point low self-esteem. I did not see this on TV, only heard about it in your post, but I hope that the person gets a sentence for the abuse that he contributed to an already suffering person. Some people are such extremists, they do crazy things to other people and they actually believe it works, there was a case here that they tortured their family member and forced the family members siblings to assists, making the person eat tiles, smashing their body with hammers... all this because they believed the person was possessed or a witch, something along those lines. People that harm people like that should be given a lengthy sentence, because there will always be people who are so desperate to try it that will fall into their hands, they will brainwash people into being tortured and brainwash others into following their ways and teach them to torture other in this alleged healing. It's atrocious to think how crazy the human race can be, how twisted, evil, people can get, but unfortunately there are a lot of people who get pleasure in causing others suffering and in this case finding a way to maybe do it and still make money from it. It's horrible and extreme measures should be taken with these people to stop an epidemic of these beliefs that torture heals. It's as outdated as people thinking that you needed to bleed someone to heal them, before people had the mental capacity to understand that certain practices have no place in this world. And the worst thing going through my mind at this time is thinking people most probably took their children to this person also but we will most probably never know.

I totally agree with you on this, especially the part where those fakes be placed in a lengthy sentence. In this case, I really feel bad for the woman since she went through such pain and suffering and just before she passed away. I just hoped she sent her last few remaining days in peace and with her family members around her. Personally I think being jailed is not enough. I think not unless the government place an iron hand on cases like these, quacks and fakes will continue to pop up and fool people. Actually from the video I've seen, yeah. There's a kid who was bought to this "fake" healer because of stomachache. The kid was crying from pain because of the treatment and in the end, I think she stopped crying maybe because she became numb of the pain or decided to keep quiet so the abuse would stop.

We can't really blame the cancer patient for believing on the faith healer. She must have been in a state of great depression and hopelessness. What she must not have done was to leave. I mean, cancer patients are supposed to be with people especially with their family. I bet the patient felt lonely because no one was with her. Her family should have been with her. She could have been prevented from going to that quack doctor.

I do know what you mean. Being in that situation would make one hang on whatever possible means there is to extend their lives :(

That is just awful, that fake "faith healer" should be sued. I have never heard of a faith healer healing using those methods- those were like torture. faith healers only heal by touch and prayers... I hope some people would stop pretending to be faith healers just for money or fame.

You and I wish for both. They're giving real faith healers bad names. Yes, I do believe in faith healers. The show called the quack a "sadistic" healer because of what she did. Before the asset's treatment, the program was able to capture a child being treated for stomachache. She said the kid's possessed (what's new?) and kept pulling and hitting her like a rag doll. She's in jail now and I really wish the victim's family would sue her.

Hey! thanks for this one. Actually I don't heard this from the news. I will look for this later. That is so bad, the method used is not really acceptable. I know for sure many are still blinded by this faith healers which are just quack doctors. People are so attracted to them because they are relying on supernatural, divine powers to heal their physical problems. My grandmother used to consult faith healers when she had some herpes or blisters on her back but no bad things happened to her and it never really cured her problems.

The same thing happened to a friend. She kept complaining that her right leg hurts like crazy. Since her mom grew up in the province, she visited a "quack" (to humor her mom). She waited a few days but her pain never subsided and her wound kinda bloated a bit. She then went to the hospital to have it checked. The doctor said the wound's infected because of the leaves they put on her wound. It's a good thing she was able to go to the doctor. I pity the indigenous and poor people who can't afford to see a doctor or live miles and miles away from the nearest health center. They have no choice but consult "faith healers"

It is unfortunate that another story had to be told, pertaining to the sick and 'strange practitioners' such as that 'faith healer' you referred to in the story. Abuses of any kind should not be accommodated by anyone- whether they are healthy or sick; especially when these abuses are being meted out to the sick by a 'faith healer'!! The unacceptable behaviors of this 'faith healer' continue to add to the catalogue of abusive activities being exposed to the public; and contribute to the tarnishing of the reputations (and profession) of all well thinking, 'faith healers'. Given the evidence presented, I suggest that this 'faith healer' be prosecuted under the law.

I know she was jailed but other than that, I don't know what else will be done to give justice to her "patients". Yeah, it's sad that they are using weak-willed people to earn "donations" and even use the name of the Lord in their pretentious "healing".

Hi kei! I was able to hear that episode but i wasn't able to watch it. it feels heartbreaking that the woman who's sick is seeking for a cure and not for torture. as for the son and the father. What's good for them is to accept the fact that the mother will leave them, but i pity them because the woman had just suffered illness from cancer and did suffered more because of the torture. I just hope God will provide justice for the woman. and that faith killer should be brought in jail!

The woman was indeed jailed after the entrapment operation. The show also let an "asset" in and posed as a patient to whom the Fake Healer diagnosed as "Possessed". The fake healer played rosary in between the asset's toes and pressed on the toes. She then asked his name. Asset: *gives real name let's just call him Ben* Ben! Fake Healer: You're not Ben evil spirit! What's your name?! This goes on for a while and the asset's screaming in pain. The asset can't hold the pain in and lied about his name. That's when the Fake Healer eased her hold.

It's really a risky thing to entrust our medical condition to faith healers. I can't fault the family though for resorting to these healers. Sometimes when a family member is terminally ill, we resort to extra-medical means. The problem however is that a lot of these faith healers are quacks. It's difficult to find someone who could actually heal a person's illness. I do hope that whoever this faith healer is should have been held also accountable for the physical abuse he had inflicted on the mother so that these "fake" healing practices of his would stop.

hello kei, I just can't understand people who believes such kind of medication. I do not judge those who believes with faith healers (sometimes patient/s resort to every possible way due to desperation) I hope those faith/fake healers will be punished for their mistake. I agree with the family- the suffering and torture is unacceptable.

She's put in jail. I pity those who are fooled by the "fake" healer. I do agree on the point that due to desperation and depression, patients end us doing almost "anything" just to ease the pain and be "healed". I hope she would have a taste of her own medicine behind bars.

I wasn't able to what that episode in tulfo but based on your stories, I really felt bad for what happened to the woman and got really mad on the faith healer who had tortured her. He doesn't have any conscience and heart! He even made a sick woman more suffer than healing her. The faith healer should be punished of what he have done!

I totally agree with you. My heart goes to the woman. It is said that after the "treatment", she looked like a wilted vegetable. I can't imagine what her pains her. My aunt also suffered from cancer before she passed away and I clearly remember how hard she cried just from a soft accidental nudge from her daughter. I can't imagine what she felt after being through that harsh, sadistic "treatment".
