Let first son get x/2 second x/4 third x/5 then x/2 + x/4 + x/5 = 19 since total number of horses = 19 solving we get 19x/20 = 19 or x=20 therefore first son gets 20/2 = 10 horses second son gets 20/4 = 5 horses third son gets 20/5 = 4 horses

just add a horse temporarily . now total = 20 1/2 of total to first son = 10 1/4 of total to second son = 5 1/5 of total to third son = 4 remaining 20-(10+5+4) = 1 take your horse back !
