is white rice healthy for you?

i hear that white rice is not good for your body. is this true? i am a cross country runner and i eat rice a lot because it fills you up without you eating a lot. is this bad for your body? or is it just another myth that goes around then goes away? thanks for your responses!!!

I know white rice is not good our body,But we eat rice beacuse, white rice made our body's carbohided.So eat white rice.

i don't think so. i come from china and i eat white rice every day. i enjoy it. actually, many chinese choose white rice as their main food and eat it every day, but they are health. so i think white rice is health for me. good luck!

white rice or red rice is good if they are in right portion. Too much or too less are not good. According to research, red rice is the healthier, but it doesnt mean that white rice is bad. Both are staples food so theres nothing wrong with both or one of them. Its just that nutrients contain in red rice is better compare to white rice, but if the rice washed many times many essential nutrients would be lost. It's more important to ensure that the cooking process is correct.

White rice is not bad for you, but there are other rice variety which are rather good options compare to white rice. Red rice and brown rice are always a better option because it contains more nutrients as compare to the white rice. Also, since white rice is starchy, those who wants to lose weight are advised not to consume not too much of white rice but instead opt for other healthy varieties.

Hi I love eating rice than a chappati. But its true that rice increses our weight easily also doctors ask diabetic patients to avoid eating rice as it may increse their suger levels quickly. But if we drain the rice water after it is cooked then it does'nt cause much harm. Then too according to doctors it is good if eat rice in less quantity to be healthy. have a nice day !

White rice is not UNhealthy for you, however whole grain rice or brown rice would be a healthier option. The reason for this is that since white rice is bleached, the process of bleaching takes some of the nutrients with it. Brown rice contains some complex carbs that your body needs, while white rice contains "empty" carbohydrates, that unless used during exercise will be converted to fat. Since you are a cross country runner, I would recommend eating plenty of lean protein like chicken or fish and fresh veggies with your rice to add an extra bump of energy.
