Everyone in the world knows Michael Jackson. My Korean students who could barely speak English knows him. Michael Jackson imitators could be seen anywhere in the world. The legacy he left behind is magical. He can sing, dance and perform with such great passion for the audience. Well, many would say that there are a lot of other artists who could do that, but for me what is lacking is the "Michael Jackson magic". In your opinion, how do you like Michael Jackson turned into a legend. What really is his magic and how does he gain such popularity and adulation from people all over the world?

Much of this figures legend are created by the media, and I don´t say this to diminish Michael Jackson, at all, actually I like his music, he was a very talented man, I think that, what took Jackson out of the crowd, was his use of the video to promote his music, and his image, just think how were videos in the 80´s, before Thriller, and you will know what I am talking about, he was the first to realize the severe impact this media will have in the future, and took advantage to it as nobody else. He was also a great dancer and live performer, with no doubt, it is a great loss, regardless of the problems with his personal life in the end of his days, a pitty as well.

Yes, I agree he has a great promotional team that made his album bestsellers. Anyway, I don't think they would give such big promotions if they didn't think the artist wouldn't be a great hit...so you're right that the combination of his own exceptionally talent plus the great promotions placed on this talent by the media and his managers, he became great...a greatness that probably only a few handpicked other great singers can come close to. It was really sad that everything had to end the way they did. Inspite of his tremendous success, his personal life wasn't managed as well as his career and he became a very strange and disturbed character. But no matter what happened to his personal life, no one can deny what he has accomplished in the music industry...I believe there will never be another Michael Jackson and his songs will definitely live forever.

Yes, he has left us with something to remind us of him...his wonderful songs spread out all over the world. His passion has indeed made him as he is right now...a legend, a living legend because he still lives among us with his songs on CD, his movies on DVDs, and especially his memorable persona in our hearts. May he also live joyfully forever in the other life.

It is indeed a shame, that, in the end of his days, and even a little earlier, he couldn´t be a strong character, and so many morbid aspects of his personality came out to light, but, even yet, his talent and great showbiz persona remained intact. I also think that his songs and music will last forever. Everything made with love and passion do.

a total performer - Michael Jackson, a total performer
It's his charisma, his appeal. Everyone in the world knows him. Even non-English speaking people knows him and imitates him. It's the way he reach out to the audience through his music. It's the way people relate to his songs.

You said it right. My Korean friends who can barely speak English knows him ( I'm teaching English to Koreans online using Skype, that's why they became my friends ). When I look at youtube, there are young and older people imitating him from Japan, Indonesia, India, Europe, America, Africa and so on. He has really become a worldwide phenomena. Yes, he's a total performer giving his whole heart and soul, and talent and dedication to all his creations...a touch of real genius.

Obviously I like uploading pictures of him. - Obviously I like uploading pictures of him. Haha.
I have Korean classmates too and they said he is popular even in Korea too which is amazing because most Koreans don't understand English. And it's amazing too that whatever the age even the 75-year-olds and even the little youngsters, everyone knows him. He caters to all ages. That's also what differs him from other pop artists. His fans come from different age groups. And he's also flexible with music. Whether it is ballad, rock, dance pop or whatever, he can sing it well. And he loved his fans. I think he was never an arrogant person.

His is the electricity and energy he carried and the flow in which he did what he did. The rhythm and timing was unmatched and the vission and understanding was special. The truth is we are only able to understand a small amount of what his essence was because much of it was blocked by the mess others tried to bring against him or the mess he brought aginst himself but there will never be another michael.

Well I could only guess it would be difficult to be Michael Jackson. I remember this quote in Spiderman "great power comes great responsibility" ( I believe this may not be the exact words..), but in Michael Jackson's case, he was highly gifted and at an early age had success that probably his youth isn't prepared to handle. As you said, his energy and passion is unmatched and combined with other abilities like his great rhythm and unmatched dancing abilities, he became such a complete package. Let's face it, there are a lot of singers that are comparable to greatness with Michael but it would really be difficult to see a great singer who can move like him or dance close to his ability.

Michael Jackson took the stage with his brothers at about age 8. He had a style of music all his own. I would think there has to be at least one song anyone can think of and enjoy of his time. Since he worked and sang he had a really hard childhood. His father was very harsh on the boys. there is a movie that sometimes plays on tv telling of their childhood The Jackson Five. That best describes his childhood. When Michael broke free from his fathers grip and began his singing career he had a lot of rhythem and feeling and passion in his work. During the time he did this he felt it inside of him as well as what we saw outside of him. he was able to do moves that were not being done by dance classes yet. Michael set his own style in dance, and singing and found his way for many years past and years to come on the charts with his music. He is one of the great legends and became known as the King of Pop. He has been in my life of music since I was 18 when I entered the Army. And I still listen to his music. I love his style.

I actually didn't know he had a difficult life when he was young and probably was pressured by his father concerning their career as Jackson 5. Anyway, I agree that Michael Jackson is very passionate with his music. He also has a natural groove and developed to be an excellent dancer with his own unique steps which he made popular. Another thing I want to mention is that the instrumentals and the beat of his songs are exceptionally great that by listening to them really makes you want to dance. Besides Michael Jackson's greatness, I also believe he has a great team around him...the musical director who makes the arrangements of all his songs, his back-up singers and also his promotional staff who made people want to buy his albums. I believe he was one of those who begun the era of music videos and making them as exciting as possible. Likewise, I also love his style of music.

I guess that was his great 'weakness' as a person and everyone has their own weaknesses. Sad that being such a popular guy, his weakness has made him a ridicule to many and I felt inspite of his riches, It was terribly hard for him to be happy nor enjoy his life. People idolizes popular celebrities not only for their talent but also looks for something praiseworthy in their personal lives, and that's just normal. The problem is, many highly successful celebrities didn't have the most respectable personal lives and it's difficult to point out why this is often true. Anyway, when I enjoy his music and listen to his songs, I actually don't think at all about his personal life because his music is so great that people get so absorbed in enjoying them in the present moment :)
