Hives have not gone away 1 and a 1/2 weeks later...

I still have hives. I already went to the doctor who prescribed predinosone for 5 days...by the 5th day they seemed to be going away..yay! Problem though, ran out of medicaiton on the 5th day, and now I have even more itchy hives than I started with in the first place! I have changed everything from my detergent, to the foods I eat and drink to no avail. Seems to be much worse at nighttime and in the early morning...should I go wait another 2 hrs. in extended care for another perscription? Do you think I can get it renewed without going back in?

Some doctors will renew prescriptions over the phone, others will not and I do not know what yours would do. It almost sounds as if it is something airborne, like pollen. Something you cannot see. Do you have an air cleaner? Something with a HEPA filter might help you. If you wear long sleeves and pants is it better or worse? It sounds just miserable, especially since you cannot take antihistamines.

Yeah it definately is not fun. I am trying so hard not to scratch...but sometimes it is painful because it is so itchy! I will definately call tomorrow and see if they will refill in it. Actually, at this point, since they have doubled, I wouldn't care sitting in urgent care another 2 hrs. for another visit for a prescription for relief!
