Many injuries this year, shouldn't the games this season be less than 66 in RS?

Greetings, I'd go right to the point. Isn't this year's program pushing the players to their edge? Every year the teams player preseason matches for around a month in October so players can pick up the pace slowly and matches periodically increased in the end of the season. In this season cause of the lock out players have been pushed to their edge I think, playing 4-5 matches per week and even sometimes playing 3 consecutive days. This resulted in injuries of -so called- bionic athletes, like Howard, Wade, Rose. Players who haven't missed many matches in the previous seasons lost many this year cause of their injuries. Many players didn't manage to improve this year, since there waren't many days for training. Shouldn't they consider the next years' "product"? If they get most of the superstars wasted this year then the financial gap would be bigger than this lockout season. I think a 50 matches RS for this year would be good for this year. Your thoughts about it?

Being a Chicago Bulls fan I was really disappointed to see Rose go down during the RS and then during the playoffs just two days ago. I think all this "bionic" athletes getting injuries really ruined the season. I never thought that these injuries may be the result of a season that was rushed into. I think you may be right but the NBA is still a market that is trying to make money and they are obviously going to make more money if they let the teams play more games. That is the way sports work sadly.

Yeap I understand why they thought of doing it this way, since they'll be more matches, so more money too but it seems like they pushed them too much and considering that in playoffs players push themselves to the limit for the win since they are in title matches there might be even more injuries till the end of the season. So it seems a little weird that they haven't thought about it beforehand, since injured superstars result in a financial gap for the teams and the league.

Hopefully we will never have to deal with NBA or NFL lockouts ever again. The issues should be resolved for the next couple of years.

Yeah I have to say that this season was a stupid idea and I think that the commisioner David Stern needs to step down or quit because this season has been a pretty big disappointment. I've watched a lot of bad games this season that were clearly because the players were tired out from playing back to back to back games and some of the best players were getting injured as well. Also because there was no training camp or exhibition games you could see that a lot of the teams that had new players were really unfamiliar with each other. A lot of good players that have a lot of fans were getting injured a lot as well. It really was unfortunate to see Derrick Rose get hurt so bad because I'm a big fan of him and so are a lot of other people, I also didn't like seeing Iman Shumpert go down because I was a big fan of his defense and I thought he's a great player. At least now we're in the playoffs and the teams will at least be getting a game's rest in between each game, I'm thinking the playoffs will be a lot different than the regular season.

Yeap I guess they might be able to perform better, though I fear since they already had a rough year the injuries might increase as teams move forward to a later stage. Already LAC's Buttler has been injured and he'll probably miss the rest of the year. :(

We're really starting to see injuries pile up almost daily now in the playoffs which is really unfortunate. The number 1 seed Bulls are out now and due a lot to injuries. Baron Davis, Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, and as you said Caron Butler are all injured. Josh Smith got injured, Paul Pierce got injured, and Avery Bradley has been injured. I hope they NBA administration has learned from the mistake of the lockout, it's done a good amount of damage to some of the best players.

The shortened season makes the NBA players prone to injuries since their rest time is less compared to the usual NBA season. I think the reason why they pushed thru the 66-game season is because of money. The maximum games they can get, the more money they get. Plus they are coming from a successful season last year, and it's even increasing now. So, by business side, maximizing would be best without considering the players health.

Only time would tell, I just hope we won't witness any "Roy incident" cause of this rough year for the players. :)
