Money seems to be the thing that everyone seems to be obsessed of but can money buy everything? For me, money can buy anything but not everything. It can buy a house, but not a HOME. It can buy a clock, but not TIME. It can buy you a position, but not RESPECT. It can buy you a bed, but not SLEEP. It can buy you a book, but not WISDOM.It can buy you medicine, but not HEALTH. It can buy you blood, but not LIFE. What is your opinion about this?

Sure money can buy a lot of things but it can't buy you happiness, it can't by you more time with friend or family. It can by you love, or respect. Money sure can buy a lot of things but certain things never. There might be people that will come to because you got money but that doesn't mean they want to be with you.

It is very sad to admit that some people just make friend because of money. Some people become nice and very kind to you because of your money. But once you don't have money anymore, they will start to go away from you or just ignore you. I have seen so many situations in which if a person has lots of money, all of that person's relatives will introduce themselves to you but once you no longer have money and you have no choice but to borrow from them, they will ran away from you like you have a contagious illness.

That's true for some people. If you don't have money to give them, they no longer have any use for you. In that case, they were not true friends in the first place. It's strange what money can do to people and how it can make them behave.

annierose yes there are a lot of people like that and there is a lot of people that will be friends with just because of you. That is the kind of person I am. I don't like you because your rick or poor I like you for who you are the personality. I try not to judge anyone based on anything.

Seems to me that if you have those non-tangible things...money is what helped you get it. Ever tried to make a HOME in a cardboard box or under a tree? Ever tried to have the time to do something, without money to get you what you need to do whatever it is you are doing? I dont' know that money can buy a position, but if it can...you'll get the respect from those below you since they on your payroll. Have you ever tried to get a good nites sleep on the curb or a park bench? And most medicines are for keeping you healthy or making you healthy or well from a sickness. Ever tried to life without blood? I think that everyone is so into "positive thinking" and thinking as you have described here..but the thing is...bottom line...money does buy happiness. What is confused is when people aren't happy even tho they have alot of money..well...look at what they have done with the money they have. It is all in how you spend the money, and what you do with the money that determines whether the money buys you happiness. Most go out and blow the money on a high priced car or house. Well... that money comes to an end and you still have the mortgage or car payment and car insurance and all to pay for...and then without hte money they can't so they are back in the poor life they came out of..unhappy. Well, if they had invested that money properly so that they could live a comfortable life in a neighborhood style home, bought a car that was reasonably accomoating and not just for show...they'd be happy as they wouldn't have to be clipping coupons just to make end meet and they'd have a nice, comfortable income for years to come. Spend it wisely and it will make you happy. Just ask anyone that doesn't have any money...ask them how happy they are! No one likes being poor and without

you have a point there sir, But i beg to disagree on certain points yes money can buy you means to be happy and get those intangible things. But also consider perspective. Its not a matter of being positive but its the way you generally look at life. There came a point in my life, that i had no roof in my head, nor a bed in my back but i was happy, everything aches on my body and i felt hungry, i was still happy. I had reason to laugh. I guess people in general is having a hard time getting contented.

Thanks zeus, you already wrote here what I wanted to share to this post. Thanks Zeus and coffeebreak for sharing to us what is your opinion about this one. Certainly, we cannot have the material things we need and want in life without money. However, there are times that people get so obsessed with money that they tend to forget the real meaning of happiness. Money cannot buy everything. It can make you happy but not for a lifetime.

Hi! Money could buy anything, it is debatable. However, those with plenty of money and wealth are always able to succeed in their life and could afford to buy luxuries and comforts of life. Actually, those who have plenty of money think that they could buy anything, any service and any person. One just can not survive without 'money' in today's world.

Money could buy even happiness. Money makes the mare go, so goes the saying. I think one's lover would like to have a candle light (expensive) dinner even if it an idea given by a love consultant.

Money may not neccessarily be able for us to buy happiness. When you have lots of money, many people will come and steal it and you wouldn't be happy. Also even though you can find love consultants, the person you are chasing might not like the fact that a romantic dinner is not your own idea but your consultants's.

Most of them think that money is everything. People can have land, car, buses or even the whole world. The reality is that they cannot have the love, respect, time or life with it. Such things play an important thing in every one life. I jut meant that money is necessary for our needs but never have them by hurting others because money cannot get back the lost things.

I agree with you wonderboy. We cannot buy things that are lost in our life like the life of those people who already passed away.We also cannot buy the trust of the person whom we betrayed many times. Those are good evidence that money cannot buy everything.

In this generation we have a different thinking about the importance of money. Money can surely buy respect. Who earns the more respect, the poor or the rich? If you sleep in a comfortable bed with all the trappings of wealth, I bet you will sleep more soundly that one who sleeps with a leaking roof or a piece of cardboard as bed. We can also buy wisdom with money since we can go to good schools and no matter if you are not intelligent enough, you get to learn more. The poor don't even have the privilege of going to school. If you have money, you can eat the more nutritious foods rather than when you are poor. With love, who says you cannot buy love? Between the poor and the rich, whom do you think will be the better choice? I am not particularly obsessed with money but that is just the way things are right now. Given the choice, I will choose to have more money than suffer the deprivations of the poor. That is probably the reason why we are all trying our best to earn more and more.

Money is a basic necessity as by having it, we can buy things that we need or we want. What you say are true but if you are going to ask from your heart, is it real respect, real peace, or real love that you are having? Let us say that because of your money, you got promoted. Yes, you might gain respect from others who don't know what you did just to be in the position where you are now but how about to those people who knows the truth why you are in the position? Do you think, they will have the real respect in their hearts?

You bring up very good points that I definitely agree with. This pretty much explains the quote "Money can't buy happiness," but it can buy the items that make a person happy. I would like to think I'm not obsessed with money as I seen some people are. Many have dreams of becoming millionaires and owning big houses but I would be find with a house big enough for when I have a family and cars that are decent and run good. I would love to never have to be debt and maybe have extra to get items I would like to have or maybe even buy gifts for family and friends of mine.

We cannot deny it that even an ugly or old person instantly becomes beautiful or handsome because of his or her money. That is a proof how powerful money can be. However, I don't think so that the person who loves another because of money can have a peace or real happiness within. Because within himself or herself, he or she knows the truth.

There are excellent posts here about the magic of money. Newbies can take a leaf from them as lessons to guide them on the labyrinthine path to adult life. To answer the question, can money buy everything? Yes, is my response. Money can readily buy worldly and tangible things, especially those that have price tags. Yes, money can buy everything that are sold. Money is powerless on inanimate and virtues because they aren't for sale.

There is one thing I wanted to add in this post. Money cannot buy time. It is all around us but we take it for granted. We have it in ample when we are young and end up wasting it. No matter how rich we are, money cannot buy the good old days.Life is a one way journey and we only get one chance so we should make the most out of it.

I am agree with you. Money can buy something but can not buy every thing. It is important but it is not a key for everything in our life. We need money for our life then we have to work to earn money everyday and let money service us.

Nowadays, people are too occupied with earning money, although of course it is important. But when you really go beyond everything superficial and tangible, you will realize that you are richer than anybody else. I’ve known people who have so much money, but they are always looking for something more, and they’re not happy and fulfilled with life. There are alot of things to appreciate and be thankful for. You just have to find reasons to make your life worth beyond what money can buy. The quotation really strucked me “You aren’t wealthy until you have something money can’t buy.” - Garth Brooks

One of the disadvantages of being greedy with money is this: Attachment with money and materialism have done great harm to our personalities. The more we move towards money, the more we are away from our real self. Bill Gate realised the futility of collecting more and more money and has left out of the race and has vowed to devote his life for social causes. In fact, for any spirtual advancement, attachmennt with money is a great hindrance. Lust for material comforts affects our consiousness, limits our awarness leaves us barren inside.--These are also some reasons why money cannot buy everything.

I agree with you that money can't buy everything, but it can also be related to the non-material things in some instances as well. For example, you are not very satisfied with yourself if you couldn't buy a bed for your child to sleep in (just using one of your examples) and I can guarantee they won't be sleeping that great either if they sleep on the floor. I guess what I am trying to say is money can give you piece of mind, that you have the ability to purchase the important needs as opposed to how you are emotionally when you can't. So, can money buy everything, obviously you can't, but money can buy things to make you happy and keep you from struggling.

We all understand that we can't do much for ourselves or those we love if we don't have money. We are all busy fighting for survival. We all are so busy in this rat race of achieving more with every passing moment. We have completely ignored the fact that we are losing a lot of precious time that we could have spent with our friends and family.

Yes money can buy a lot of things but there are also a lot of things it cannot buy. Just look at all the rich people who cannot find true love. They become suspicious of people dating them or wanting to marry them. Ever heard of people saying "oh you just want me for my money, you don't really love me". Or "you just married me for my money". Being rich causes people to become suspicious like that. If you think money can buy happiness, just look at all the miserable rich people. Yes, money can buy nice things. Yes money can make your life more comfortable. I'd rather cry in a nice, big, comfortable house than on the street. If I became homeless and was forced to live out of my car I'd rather it be in a Mercedes than on a bicycle. So yes, money can buy the things that make your life a little bit easier or more comfortable, but there are certainly some things that money cannot buy.

Thanks for contributing an informative response. I agree with you. Some rich people think that they can buy the whole world because they have the money in their hand. I will say that they are wrong. Sad to say they look at money as if it is their god. One day, people will realize that money isn't everything. That everything will come to its end.

No, I don't think that money can buy you everything. Sure, it does help to help provide for some basic needs, such as food, shelter, and such, but it can't buy love, or friendship, and things like that.

Thanks for participating dodo. I agree with your post. Some people will only get closer to you for money and you don't even know if they like you for who you are or for your money. You will just know it once you no longer have money. They say that if a person has a lot of money, he gains so many relatives and friends; however when you no longer have money, they will disappear one by one.

" CAN`T BUY ME LOVE ", so sang The Beatles and how right they were.Besides what you have written love is one of the greatest virtues that money can`t buy.Love makes the world go round.Without love there would be no wife, no family, no children, no pets, no home and so on and so forth.Money can give us a comfortable life and the ability to buy perishable goods which we soon get bored and tired of.Money can give us the opportunity to help others in need until they are able to stand on their own feet.

Well money can really buy the things that can lead to other things. However, there are certain things where the tools that money can buy need to be utilized properly to lead to those things, that you mentioned like home, time, respect, wisdom, and pretty much everything that comes with a lot of the hard work. Let me put it this way. I can buy all of the tools that I need to succeed in something. But if I do not rather put in the hard work in implementing them, then I have just flushed a great deal of money right down the toilet. So really, money can buy the tools but it is up to the people to use them in a way where the concepts are played well.

Money can buy you lots of things: Clothes, Jewelry and all that, but it can't but you : Love, Real Happiness and the support you really need! Other says it can still be bought but I doubt it. If every it can be bought then it is not real love, real happiness or real support.

I don't think money can buy everything. Though it is sad, that it kinda seems to be that way. Money talks in a lot of ways. Seems you can get almost anything done for the right amount of cash. It's sad. There is too much greed. It would be nice if the power money was not so strong.

The saddest thing is that some people allow their lives to be controlled by money. And it is with that their god is already the money. People just think of it before they sleep and after they wake up and for the whole day, they think nothing but money. It makes me think that money becomes the root of all evil in this world once it controls you.
