this is to honor the saints for each respective place. this is a tradition of catholics. although i am not a catholic any more. but still nevertheless as it is a tradition we can't easily take this tradition away not unless all population would turn to be non catholic already. still large part of population here are catholics even if a lot already defected to other kind of faith.

May to June, is another season of festivities. You're right about that. At my mother's place, there are a lot of small parishes in the barangay, and each parish takes turn in celebrating their feasts. While it's fun for the people to commemorate their's patron saint's greatness, we find it annoying that they have to occupy the whole street and restrict vehicles to pass thru, just because they have an ongoing activity, like contests and games. We have to take a detour thru a very narrow road, just to get to the other side. I hope you get the picture of what I'm trying to say. This is quite common here in the Philippines.
