my son has a friend that is in a unique situation. first, he was born in honduras and brought to the u.s. after his mother passed. over the past 15 yrs, his father and his mother's friend has been raising him. over the last two years that we've been getting to know him, we've noticed bruises on him. he has stated that his father is abusive to him. last month, his father was finally arrested for abuse and was locked up. the lawyer told this child that his father would be deported back to honduras. it caused problems in the family. everyone started to turn on this boy. my house was the only place that he said he could be comfortable in knowing that he had done the right thing. however, the judge decided not to deport him and released him. this boy has asked us if we would mind being his guardians for the next two years. his father is threatening to take the whole family back to honduras and this boy doesn't want to go. he loves it here and he's hoping to become a u.s. citizen. he makes good grades, is very respectful and is willing to do anything to stay in here. as much as i'm dealing with roller coaster emotions with my daughter graduating and moving off to college, i just don't know if i could do this. i love this boy as much as i love my own son and they are the best of friends. i hate knowing that his father beats this boy for stupid reasons. i'm also afraid that if he does go back to honduras, his father would end up hurting this child and noone will stop it. what to do????? i don't even know where to begin with this as he's not a u.s. citizen and don't know what could even be done. any suggestions and tips would be VERY helpful.

Girl I would contact the embassy or a deportation lawyer. Find out if anything could be done before you agree with anything.
