Do you prefer chat or skype? (when talking online)

I do have online chat accounts with username and Skype but I usually use chat due to my internet connection. Although I have one installed on my netbook for free and it was already there when I bought it but I'm usually using free wifi and I don't have DSL or stable internet connection.
How about you guys? When you communicate online; do you Skype or chat manually? Tell me about it. Happy mylotting :)

you can chat through skype too though LOL you mean video calling?

But what's weird is I was able to chat with my friend who's headset is not working. LOL ^__^-)
And there you go; that's how to rectify it. But how do you find chatting so far? Is chat your style or do you prefer using Skype more? (either by video calling feactures or chat?)

i love video calling on skype more than anything else right now since it is the only way i can communicate with love ones right now. it is easier rather than sending messages. it can be misunderstood sometimes.

in my views friend skype is the best chatting software i seen so far because it is very easy and free to use and that is why i love to use it and when ever i want to chat i use it and all my friends and family members also used it .i think this is best from all chatting software's .

I used to connect or chat with my friends with Skye. I love using it. I used to use them still now because I fell a great comfort to use it. I have a yahoo ID and my friends will be available there but I don't get into it everyday. I just use them when there is any urgent needs.

i prefer skype over other chat or instant messaging software like Yahoo Messenger. but most of my friends don't know what Skype is.

I don't really have skype and i don't have a webcam either..so i use chat in facebook or yahoo. it is faster too since it only needs normal internet connection. 
I think skype needs a lot faster net connection.

I have Skype, GTalk, Yahoo and MSN id. But still I am not too fond of chatting with strangers unless or until they have webcam. Because people pretend too much now a days. I like to chat with my friends on Facebook or GTalk. Some how I am not too fond of Skype and there are very few friends of mine who have a Skype id.
