Do you prefer chat or skype? (when talking online)

I do have online chat accounts with username and Skype but I usually use chat due to my internet connection. Although I have one installed on my netbook for free and it was already there when I bought it but I'm usually using free wifi and I don't have DSL or stable internet connection. How about you guys? When you communicate online; do you Skype or chat manually? Tell me about it. Happy mylotting :)
