Has anyone ever wondered why does the dentist always talk to you despite the fact that you cant respond and its actually quite pointless?

It's to keep you from what's going on at the time. You'll be thinking about what he's saying and not the pain. I wonder why when you go to see a doctor, they'll ask you what the problem is? I know they're concerned, but I tell them, "If I knew what the problem was, I'd fix it myself." They should word that question differently, though.

I used to think they were playing a game untill I asked. Perhaps the ones that ask questions are but my dentist talks to remove tension, educate or simply to keep the human component. Otherwise I am just another mouth.

Ug I hate that soo much! Because if you try to respond they tell you to stop talking! It drives me so batty! Its not just them though, there are other doctors whom work on personal things, especially for women whom just talk like you just met them on the elevator or something. That bugs me more that dentists, because at least with dentisists you can glare at them and they see it. Happy mylotting!!

nice point of view :))))) i think they talk to drive you away from the work he is doing , to calm you , it`s a strategy every doctor is using , but at dentist it`s kind of ..... not needed :)) most specific not for all persons
