Summer is not a time where people should be cooped up inside playing video games or watching television. It is a time to enjoy the time off of school or work. Some things you can do to get some exercise and enjoy running around this summer are: Baseball- The great American past-time! Get together some friends and have a pick-up game or just hit off of a tee. Baseball is sure to exercise the body as well as the mind. Let's face it, most kids you ask will say they like baseball. Some will say that they love it. It's a fun activity that anyone can play and has something for everyone. Say you're not the best hitter or pitcher, focus your skills on fielding with a golden glove that will be sure to dazzle your friends. Want to be like Babe Ruth? Put all your eggs in the power hitter basket and swing for the fences. Maybe you just want to be an all around player! Why not? You can do it all with a fun summer of baseball. Lacrosse- Lacrosse is gaining popularity very rapidly in America. It is good exercise as there is a lot of running and it also helps with hand-eye coordination. Lacrosse has many upsides, all you need is a stick, a ball, and a wall and you can play off the wall. Get a few friends together and you'll have a nice game going in no time. But, with upsides come downsides... Lacrosse can be very expensive! If you want to play on a team, you'll need a good stick. That comes with two major parts, the shaft and the head. This can add up to hundreds of dollars. Also, you're going to need a protective helmet and pads which only add to the cost. The verdict? A great game to play at your local park with some friends. An expensive thing to do for a team. Ultimate Frisbee- Ultimate Frisbee is a game many people have probably heard of, but never tried. Ultimate Frisbee will definitely get your hear pumping as running up and down that field is a work out. Once again, hand-eye coordination is crucial and will be tested ti the max as that Frisbee is hurling at you. This is a cheap game as all you really need is a Frisbee. This could be a great way to spend the days of summer if you find an open field. Swimming- Swimming is one of the most popular sports in the U.S. It's the cheapest thing you could possibly do this summer if you just go to a lake or a family members pool. Also, if you're willing to spend a little extra money, you can buy a membership to your public pool. Swimming is a great, fun, exercise that works the arms, legs, and core. If you're a competitive person, you can join a swim team and race against other swimmers. Or, you can just round up a few friends and go relax at your local pool and have a great time. Swimming is a great thing to do when you're bored and want to exercise. In conclusion, this summer, when you're bored, do something about it. Don't just lie there and do nothing all summer. Be productive and have a good time with these physically challenging activities.
