I realize that many liberals on the street so to speak really do care about others and want the government to take care of those who cannot take of theirselves. They have the best of intentions. But here is what all their good intentions come to. And those who really need a hand up, have to bear the shame of being likened to these folks. Our welfare system is broken. Let's just admit it, and figure out HOW TO REALLY FIX IT. http://patdollard.com/2012/05/obama-voters-display-their-disgusting-selves-to-alexandria-pelosi/ Safety net? or free ride? What's your gut feeling.

Debra, This is a no brainer, it is exactly what has become of almost every government social program. What really surprises me is that it was ever shown on the Bill Maher show. And is that Nancy's daughter doing the interview, or just someone with the same last name? What really exasperates me about steadfast liberals is that they profess one thing and vote exactly the opposite. I know many people that say abortion is wrong, gay marriage is wrong, there are too many able bodied men and women on welfare etc etc but when election time comes they still vote democrat, go figure. Again the deinition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again exactly the same way expecting different results. Also, let me clarify that I don't believe the republicans have all the answers or are right about everything, but, they are the closest to where I stand politically and morally. I don't believe we will ever see Washington run for the people or by the people until several changes take place. First there must be term limits for senators and representatives, just like the presidency. These positions, just like the presidency, were never ever meant to be a career. Second we must rid Washingtom of it's biggest scourge and that is the lobbiests. These people who work for special interest groups do nothing for the best interest of the people of this country except those few they represent. All they do is buy votes of senators and congressmen and that is why a person will spend millions of dollars to get elected to a 100k per year job because they know they will get it all back and then some. And lastly, all laws and bills that are being considered by congress must stand alone without riders or attachments and must be written in plain ENGLISH so the everyday layman can understand exactly what it is being voted on. This will eliminate most pork.

You sound just like a Republican I heard on the debates. I'm with you, not all Republicans have the answers and not all Democrats are socialists. So why is Washington broken? I feel it is because of Pelosi and Reid, and yes that was her daughter. They wouldn't let the House Republicans have a say if their life depended on it. And the 2010 Tea Party Representatives signed a contract with their people, NO raising taxes. So, what to do? I say, vote them all out and put new ones in? What about the reasonable ones who are trying? In a nut shell, we need new leadership.
