Eating late night, is that you too..

I have a habit that eating late night since i started to do over time last year. Until now i can't change it and i regret sometime about this?? Do you having same situation like me too? Any comments??

How did you come to develop this habit in the first place?Something must have happened making you start eating late at night.I eat only once in a day- only at 9.30 pm at night.This has been my routine for years.If you take your dinner late at night,your digestive system would not get time to digest it.I don't know how you can change it.Take light food one night,and don't eat anything the next day.Go on doing so for some days.And then consult your doctor.May be this would solve your problem.

I had read somewhere that one should eat at least a couple of hours before you go to sleep.Try to sleep early at night and take your dinner two hours before going to bed.

good day victorkrish, with reference to your discussion, i consider myself as one of those who eats dinner late at night. and this is a consequence of my previous work, as i do came home late, so i eat up my dinner late as well. and it is really hard to change. although i am not handling my own work schedule, still, the habit has not been changed. hence there are times, that i do eat my dinner before 6 in the evening but, i do feel hungry again around 10 or 11 pm sometimes. So, in this instances, i am just taking a mug of coffee just to ease up the cravings.

hello there victorkrish, thank you for praising my name. well, it is quite difficult to change the eating habit, as your digestive system will really look for a food after sometime but for sure you will be able to change that. cheers.

Hi victorkrish, I do have this problem. Its because sometimes I forget to eat during the day due to being busy. And then other times I like to wait until my husband gets home to eat with him. And this is anywhere between 7-9:30. I cook dinner for the kids and they eat at a regular time. But I do not. I have been trying to get better about this. Or if I do eat late I try to just eat something low cal and small. I do really need to get better about this though since I am actively trying to lose weight. I know that eating late is one of the things that foil the weight loss efforts.

I used to eat late at night however I cannot do that anymore. I have to eat at least four to five hours before I go to bed. If I don't I get heartburn really bad and then I feel sick. I also tend to get restless nights when I at late. Also eating late makes me gain weight. It goes straight to my butt and thighs. :)

I totally agree with the weight gain when eating late at night! It goes straight to my lower half as well, and girl, there's enough down there already! Haha, in fact, I've read that sleeping after eating is how sumo wrestlers gain their weight ... O__O

I don't eat late at night,at least I have to eat my dinner 4 hours prior to bed. I can't merely sleep when my tummy still full. After my dinner I will just have a plain water till I get to bed. Some people having the same habit as you,they can even have a midnight snacks.Depends on how we deal with our cravings anyway. Happy mylotting!

I used to have this problem and I really couldn't figure out why or when it started. But I have realized that as I get older, I get hungry and eat more often, however, in small portions. Instead of eating dinner at 7 and starving myself before I go to bed at say around 10:30 or 11, I eat 2 small dinners at 6 and then at 8. It's worth a try, good luck :)

I eat 5 times a day and that seems to help my late night eating... a big breakfast; small snack: lunch; small snack and dinner. I have lost 40 lbs this year so far eating like this

I know its a horrible habit I have and thats I think what makes me gain the most weight is my late night eating habits. But theres nothing like eating at night with the Television!

Yes I eat late at night all of the time, especially while I'm pregnant right now I have to eat something before I got to bed or else I'll wake up in the middle of the night starving. I know its bad for you to eat late at night because of weight but I'm pretty small that I just breath and lose calories.

I'm having the same situation. I eat my meal whenever I want it. I don't care if it's already late at night or not the normal eating hours. I just don't have the appetite most of the times. I know I have to change this habit 'cause it won't make me healthy. I have learned from this discussion and from the respond you got from other members.

With my kind of job, night shift, I used to eat between 12 midnight to 2 am. Sometimes I wonder what it may bring to me. I think, as long as I eat the right food, that would make me healthy and strong enough to continue my work and get it done. Cofee after my meal makes it complete, also I drink coffee on my off, just the decaf one.

I have also a habit of eating late at night because of the schedule of my job. I think there's nothing wrong on eating late night as long as your eating a healthy food. Why do you regret it? Did affects your health when eating late at night?

Haha...guess we share the same habit...yes..I always eat at late night...I have been doing this for countless years...surly more than half of my life...and somehow I just can't seem to change it...perhaps one of the reason is that I don't really sleep early...so yeah...my body just seems to tell me that its time to eat around 1:00am....The only way I could stop my self from eating during late night is to sleep early...lol The weird thing is I suppose if you eat during late night it is likely that you will gain weight as your organs should be resting during that time but as you eat they need to work harder...thus less efficient and eventually you gain weight...but somehow I just don't....perhaps it is because I regularly play sports to keep my self fit...otherwise I should be pretty fat by now...since I have been doing this for such a long time :P

I have that kind of habit too.. I just get hungry at different times and i just can't help it. I can't sleep on an empty stomach, so a few minutes before sleeping i usually eat something.. or when i wake up at late hours, i grab something to eat sometimes.

Hi: I used to do that during overnight duties as a fishery law enforcer. We would go out to sea on clear moonless nights and gather siganid on one of the coral formations near shore. We would just cook them in any way possible: roasted, stewed or eaten raw. Nowadays, I would stay far into the night and not feel anything but sleepy.

I used to eat late at night too every time I feel hunger.I always eat the left overs from dinner or some biscuits to relieve hunger.I always wanted to eat every time I feel hunger maybe due to fast metabolism I had.

hi victor.... i think eating late night everyday can be problem for you in a long run...doing this occationally is ok but if you have a habit of doing this you should try harder and change it, as it can lead to many health problems later.. yes some times i do have the situation but it is very very occasional. i think eating habbits and timing is very very important....:D

I know that eating late at night can cause late digestion and make someone lazy to wake up and still sleepy. Not a good way to work or doing some stuff later. hmm
