smoking in the car

I started smoking at 18, and recently quit with surprisingly relative ease....I feel no real urge to smoke on my own, and I allow myself a cigarette or two if I'm seeing an old friend who smokes, so I don't even keep packs at home. But when I'm driving, the urge is almost impossible to ignore. I used to use the drives to and from my friends' houses or my mother's home to roll the windows down, feel the wind, listen to loud music, and have a smoke or three... it was a very pleasant time of mine, and something I used to unwind which actually helped me greatly. Now since just before I quit, I moved back in with my grandmother, my boyfriend moved in with /us/, and we got a new car....so I definitely couldn't smoke anyway. The only thing I really miss about it smoking in the car.

Hello ChandraNalaar and welcome to the myLot :) You have the interesting smoking habits and you are the fortunate that you no have the big urge to do the smoke all the time. I have the friend who only to smoke in the car, too. Does your grandmother or boyfriend smoke? Is that why you not changed your smoking in the car habits, or is it just that you no want to smoke in the new car?

Neither my boyfriend nor my grandmother smoke, thankfully! it makes it much easier because I'm never tempted around them at all. I just really miss smoking in the car, you know? It was like, my stress reliever or something and I don't have it anymore.

I see what you mean. Sort of like missing an old friend with whom you used to hang out regularly.

yes, exactly! thinking of smoking like that is very nostalgic, but not anything I'm going to do.
