Multitasking skills....

Today I woke up this morning, I saw my husband reading newspaper and listening loud music to his ipod while waiting for the rice to be cooked. This scenario was very common, he used to do two or three things at the same time. He can managed to do things without any mistake I think he is blessed with this abilities. Even when were in college I saw him reviewing our studies while listening to rock music and jotting down notes. According to him, it easily to understand and memorize with music. To be honest, I can't read properly while listening to music or even talking to other people while making my topic here in mylot. I can't concentrate for what I am reviewing if I heard the loud music. How about you my fellow mylotters, can you do two things at the same time? Can understand what your reading while listening to music? Thank you for sharing. :)

i multitask too, but then when i study or read something i also prefer quiet. since if i listen to music, i end up singing along with the song and my focus shifts. I can only do eating, reading and jotting down notes at the same time..

Hi Bhebelen14, I can do 2 things at the same time but I can't concentrate to both things. They say that we need to do things one at a time. I believe we can do many things RIGHT if we do it one at a time. Reviewing while listening to a rock music can be workable to me.

I am a difficult person to do multitasking. I will definitely make mistakes, and everything I do, can not be completed properly.

Hi Bhebelen, like your husband i also do multitasking, since i'm working in a call center,i listen to my caller while typing and also while thinking on what is the possible resolution of their concern. At home since im a mother and also a full time student, since I'm taking my masterals degree, I cook our meals while washing the dishes at the same time the washing machine is on. I'm studying while i assist my son on homework and stuff. I guess, doing this is really not an ability but a must for individual like me, who needs to have a lot of things done to have the 24hrs provided be enough. Crazy but its true. Have a nice day

I could totally relate to him when studying! XD I actually prefer listening to music (even metal at times) while studying 'coz music doesn't disturb me much as the outside unnecessary noise does. I also like reading novels while listening to them, and sometimes when I'm just copying notes I would listen to the television just so I could catch up with the show. It doesn't really bother me. XD

I used to be able to do many things at the same time. Now I don`t. I suppose it has to do with age. A long time ago I stopped having some background music when I was with friends as I could not properly concentrate in what we were talking about. I can only do now more than one task if they all belong to the same kind of work, such as cooking several dishes or doing different tasks at the garden.

I can do two things at the same time at the office and my boss likes it. Actually, I can do mylotting while doing my regular job :D I guess many supervisor nowadays would be happy to have an employee who has multitasking skills. I used to work as department secretary and all our engineers would usually tell me to do this and that. I hate when they ask me to do something while I am already doing another thing. But when I learned that I can earn online, I tried my best to finish the jobs they are giving to me so I could also work online. That was how I learned to multitask at work. But at home, my husband doesn't like me doing so many things at the same time. Like you, I can't also concentrate onto something while listening to music. Your husband is exceptional :D

I used to be like that, multitasking or maybe I just don't like the feeling of not doing anything. At home I used to surf the net or playing psp while listening music in front of the TV.At work, I used to type something or doing some paper works while talking someone in the phone and hearing office mates talking. It really depends to the person and some people really used to it.

Yes, I like also doing things at the same time. For example playing my computer while cooking and watching TV news. It's not bad to do things at the same time just focus on what you are doing.

Hi Bhebelen, I can totally relate to what you are saying. For some reason, my attention span is just not great...I can do two things at once but if i have to concentrate and do something else..its not going to work...

Yes there are lot of people like your husband that can concentrate in two or three things at the same time. In my case, I can do two or three things at the same time especially doing household tasks like cooking two different dishes at the same time. However, I cannot do reading with loud music or TV at the saem time, I cannot focus on my reading or should I say, I cannot understand what I read. good day!

The things you did today is really multitasking activity to day. That's the reason that some employer hired highly skilled professionals, the same thing of doing such skills. I am also like that, it I need to finish everything, then I need to move around until it is done.

Yes I think I was born with this kind of talent. I still believed in the saying "Time is Gold" and I don't want to waste it only with one thing that I can do it at the same time. I know you would not believed on me either but when you saw me doing multitasking jobs you will be amazed. My friends always asked me if I'm in a hurry. Like now I'm watching my favorite soaps in live streaming on my laptop while MyLotting, but I'm already put the rice on the stove and wait for it to cook. I don't like turning on my TV coz I know I will not be concentrating to watch specially half of the program was only commercials it is better here on my laptop I can glance when the soaps is already viewing.

Our society today is teaching us to multitask. I can also work while listening to the music coming out of the earphones stuck in my ears. Sometimes, I work, I listen, and I sing. Sometimes, I work and answer the phone at the same time. Multitasking are also evident in today's kids. They can do a whole lot more multitasking than us adults do.
