I read a novel today 'Monte Carlo Affairs 3: The Prince's Ultimate Deception'. It is a romance novel. Just a couple of days ago, I blogged that I am bored of the monotony of romance novels and about how similar they all seem, with just a difference in names, places, characters and situations. This book, however, surprised me today. It was witty, funny, very romantic and absolutely attention-catching. I loved the character of the heroine [she could easily have been me], she was funny, smart-mouthed, sassy, courageous, take-no-nonsense and a very good person. The hero was charming, handsome and a Prince to boot [soon to be King]. Never once during this entire novel did the hero brag about not believing in love, or show his arrogance, power or lack of emotion/care [which is a shocker for a romance novel]. The story was very straightforward and simple, and stayed in one place [unlike some mills and boon novels that just won't stay put, and want to take you away to either Spain, Italy, France, Greece, England or the Middle East]. This novel was, granted, situated in France, but it stayed there till the end [big surprise]. The end was very nicely constructed, I enjoyed reading it so much and it brought a smile to my face. My advice to all romance readers, read this if you haven't, it will make you smile, for sure.

I would definitely try reading that book if I get a hand on it. Sounds interesting. I still love romance novels every now and again, but lately, I have been indulging myself in lots of crime novels. A good thing about any book is a character and once you get to love the protagonist, then surely, everything else comes easy. It sounds that the character you were describing seems interesting enough to watch out for. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, and all three books in the series are great. The series is called Monte Carlo Affairs by Emelie Rose. And if you are looking for crime novels, try novels by Tami Hoag. They are more of the serial killer types. But the writing style is great and it makes you connect emotionally with each and every character.

Hello kkaria309 Having read your earlier blog/discussion about being bored with the monotony of romance novels because of how similar they all seem, I am glad to see that you have found solace in 'Monte Carlo Affairs 3: The Prince's Ultimate Deception.' The heroine sounds like a real character as a funny, smart-mouthed, sassy, courageous, take-no-nonsense and very good person. I am curious as to what how you define the difference in being sassy and in being smart-mouthed?

I tend to think of smart-mouth as having a bad attitude of insulting others, perhaps even name-calling, whereas sassy can mean the same thing. In USA culture, these two words are sometimes interchanged, and are not usually meant in a positive way. Thanks for clearing it for me.
