hacking and internet virus

Yesterday I raised an alarm regarding my hacked email. Thanks to you, Mylot Pals, for your kind and timely advice. It also happens that the hackers gave a lead which was really tempting. When the people it was sent to, purportedly by me, followed the link they were infected with a virus. I am just wondering how these people who spend so much time creating computer viruses benefit from punishing innocent computer owners.

oh that i do not know but there are just people who love to make others suffer and they are happy with that. i guess sometimes they just want to earn money, get into your email to get into accounts like paypal, and so on you still have to be careful though as your credentials in the email is compromised, you have got to make sure you check all associated accounts with the email. some do log in and pretend to be you and they even ask for money on your friends list. this is where the real danger comes in.

We will never understand human nature. Just as I will never understand people paying for Windows, just for the privilege of being infected by virus, trojan and worms. When alternative, cost free, virus free, safer and better operating systems are available, it doesn't make any sense!
