new kittens and catnip

OK, so my fiancee and I got a new kitten, we have wild catnip under our porch.
A day after we got our kitten, It started going 100 miles an our zipping around our house, and took espeacially high intrest in our shoes.
Would this be the catnip scent makeing it crazy?

I will say that all my cats love catnip, they love it as a herb and they love it when a toy is stuffed with cat nip.
We once put a cat nip toy up the top of our christmas tree and the next day they had took all the wrapper off it and were going mad for the toy.

OMG! That is so funny. I would imagine if the kitten has access to under your porch it would be a good guess that the cat nip is making it crazy. Thank you for making me laugh.
