Weird Foods - What next?

I recently went to dinner with my friends at a place famous for its various food stalls and being open until the early hours of the morning. It is food heaven at night there, and always crowded. So I noticed something weird that other people at the next table had ordered, and I am good at noticing weird things. It was an ice-cream sandwich. Not like the one in the picture attached, which looks very yummy, by the way. But it was an honest-to-God, ice-cream [with raisins and cashew nuts] stuffed between buttered bread slices, and topped with grated cheese. So I decided to try it, at the insistence of my friends, and turned out it was not bad. Not good, but not bad either. I am not sure if I will eat it again. I know another place that has ice cream fritters. Yes, that is right, Fritters! Actual dipping of scoops of ice cream into batter, and then frying it in hot oil. It is served specially during winters, but the people there eat it all the time. Turns out, that ice cream parlor was famous for that kind of stuff. Meaning weird combinations, creations and experiments in ice cream. I tried one, not the fritters, but it was hardly swallow-able. I do not even drive by that place anymore. So what is the weirdest food you have seen, heard about or eaten? How was it?

hi kkaria! this sounds like an exciting experience! i would probably like to try the ice cream sandwich you describe because i am a fan of bread and butter as well as ice cream! i have tried haggis, which is a scottish delicacy and people don't generally think it is so great, is is made from sheep's bladder/liver and mixed with oatmeal and spices...it was horrid and i think your ice cream sandwich would taste much better! where we live now has scandinavian foods and we are looking forward to trying lutefisk at the norse festival in the autumn...it is dried/smoked/pickled fish...actually our home is in the lutefisk capital of america! i have tried pickled herring here, and it was also horrid and i would rather have the ice cream sandwich...other foods prized in scots culture that i would like to try and haven't are deep fried mars bars and deep fried pizza! sounds very nutritious, don't you think?

After carefully reading your response, I recommend that you do eat the ice-cream sandwich. Considering the other things that you have been eating, or are planning to eat, I think you should be safe with the ice cream sandwich. I never thought people would get crazy enough to pickle fish! Okay, not judging, no offence to pickled fish lovers. And Deep Fried Mars Bars? Who thought of that? It sounds like something invented when somebody accidentally dropped a Mars Bar in a fryer. Deep Fried Pizza, well, I don't know, I love Pizza, I would maybe taste one teeny tiny bite of that. I hope you get to taste that, and tell me how it was.

I don't know if you've seen it yet or if your Burger King has it but they have started selling sundaes with bacon on them. I haven't tried it but it just seems weird to me.

You are right, it is weird. More weird for me than you, because I am vegetarian and I don't eat bacon. And I have not seen it, because we do not have Burger King in India.
