A town named after the Governor?!?

For me it's fine to name streets, schools, town or anything after dead presidents or heroes or artists, but to name under the current governor or mayor, it's ridiculous. Why do this politicians have to use their names in all public places when in fact the money that they used for these projects came from taxes of the people. Is it with you to see the name of your public officials in most public places and facilities in your town?
